800 F Street Northwest, Washington, DC
We'll congregate in the Spy Museum lobby. If you don't see us immediately upon entering, go to your right towards the entrance to Spy City Cafe, and you'll probably see us there.
We have a special event in store for March. One of DC's lesser known treasures is the International Spy Museum. The museum "features the largest collection of international espionage artifacts ever placed on public display" and explores "the craft, practice, history, and contemporary role of espionage" from a global perspective. In addition to exhibits revealing untold spy stories from ancient times to the modern age, there's a special exhibit right now called Exquisitely Evil: 50 Years of Bond Villains, that's very exciting (and has at least a tangential and vague relationship to science fiction).
The museum also hosts a 1-hour immersive, interactive experience called Operation Spy, that puts you on a live-action mission with a team of spies, following clues and solving puzzles and employing spycraft. It's a lot of fun!
We've negotiated a special rate of $26.06 to enjoy both Operation Spy and general admission to the museum. Our rate is about a 12% discount on the standard rate. This rate will be good until March 7 at noon on a space-available basis. You must pay online in order to RSVP.
It's essential that everyone arrive by 1:30pm (1:45pm at the absolute latest), in order for us to make our slotted times for Operation Spy. We will have 15-person groups embarking on their missions at 15-minute intervals, so we need to have everyone assembled or you'll forfeit your space. Please budget extra time to make your way to the museum and find parking. Also, please read the visitor policies prior to the event.
After the visit, we'll be splitting into smaller groups for March's Post-Museum Dinner to explore some of the great restaurants nearby. You must RSVP separately for the dinner.
I enjoy both discussing books and Science Fiction/fantasy, so what's not to like?
Hi! I'm a huge bookworm who loves sci-fi, cult movies, cats, and tea.
I like fantasy and sci fi books, and also I like talking about books!
Escapist fiction makes the real world survivable.
I just moved to the area and looking to read new books, see new movies and meet new people
I love a lot of things in life, and Sci-fi and fantasy are definitely at the top of the list.
