Liquid Courage (Happy Hour - no reading required!)

Please join us for a happy hour and get-together, aimed to fortify the resolve and expand the awkwardness-tolerance of any members attending the Speed Dating for Science Fiction and Fantasy Lovers event immediately afterwards, and to provide everyone else with general entertainment at our expense. You do not have to attend the speed dating in order to enjoy this happy hour. We hold these happy hours before speed dating a couple times a year, and we have had an absolute blast every time.

Speed dating can be a bit stressful or intimidating if you've never given it a try, so relaxing with your friends from the group beforehand should help everyone go into the speed dating event with a little more ease and confidence. And for our single members, whether or not you think you're seriously interested in meeting someone, we do urge you to come out to the speed dating event (treat it as an anthropological study into the courtship rituals of our people); at the very least you'll probably end up with some amusing stories, and who knows, you might meet someone awesome.

We will be returning to Pentagon Row for this event (and for the speed dating after). With the winter being as apocalyptic as it's been, outdoor patios are not likely to be a feasible option, so we'll be holding our happy hour at Champps Americana (a few doors down from the speed dating venue). Champps is a fun restaurant and sports bar. Check out the menu here.

Directions and parking information for Pentagon Row can be found here.

For those that speed-dated, I've posted some tips and pointers for what comes next. If you haven't yet posted a picture and profile, we strongly urge you to do so soon. Thanks and good luck!

Hi everyone! I hope you're excited for today's happy hour. I just wanted to suggest that anyone unfamiliar with Pentagon Row who's driving in read the directions and parking information here before they arrive.

I'll be getting off work right at 5:00 and heading over from there, so I should be arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 depending on traffic, parking, and whether or not I decide to metro over. See ya when I see ya!

Hi everyone! I hope you're excited for Saturday's happy hour. For anyone planning on attending speed dating afterward, please remember to buy your tickets in advance to get our 50% discount and to ensure you have a place (these are pretty popular and often fill up). Also, I've added some tips and pointers that can help you prepare for the speed dating and get the most out of your experience.
