@Judy: Octal is just base eight (we normally count in base ten). So the counting numerals in octal go 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 10 11 (where 10 is one 8 in the eights place and zero ones in the ones place). Counting in different bases is popular with computer scientists and mathematically inclined 5th graders.

I feel better now. I thought I was suffering alone. I had such a great time hanging out with everyone, and VJ was a brilliant organizer. (Had lunch this week with a friend from London.) I had to check in all sorts of ways at work to do some major projects. Oh, the pain. I'm planning to go dark this weekend, but I'm sad I'm missing the pirate festival. You guys have fun!

Absolutely amazing weekend! The con was awesome and the panels were interesting and fun for the most part. Had an absolute blast with all our members who joined us. And we are now the trivia champions of Balticon 46!!! Thanks to everyone who made this such a great weekend.
And remember, what was said at Balticon stays at Balticon! :-P

If you'd like to meet up during Balticon for meals and/or general hanging out, please private message me your cell # here: http://goo.gl/KhQl4
I'll text out details on when/where to meet up (I'll also be posting them here, and you can get comments in realtime if you have the Meetup smartphone app).
We'll be setting up a little bar in my suite, so feel free to bring alcohol/beer/wine/mixers for your preferred beverage. :)
Hope you're all excited! I'll be arriving around 2ish on Friday.

The hotel block at the Marriott has filled up ( http://www.balticon.org/hotel.h... ), but there is a waitlist and a few alternate hotels suggested, plus I'm considering (not on the list) the Embassy Suites which is a 5-7 minute walk from the Marriott and would give us a nice place to congregate/party. :) Has everyone else made their room arrangements?
