Had too much work today. I won't be able to put in 2 more hours of productive coding.

Hi, I'm a software engineer(mostly java and python) without ruby experience. Will I be able to program at this event?

Sure, especially if you're solid with developing in javascript as well. You can optionally take an "idea person" card and be paired with a developer and let them do most of the coding. In either case, the format is pretty informal, and both people in the pair are encouraged to highly collaborate!

Matthew Du Pont: agreed. I encourage people to mark those comments as spam, since comments send emails out to all attendees. I just did so now and it looks like the comment went away. Though sometimes they don't, even though I'm an event host - maybe it takes multiple people marking comments as spam to make them go away?

Just curious, what does this group work on during these hack sessions?

People git split into pairs and work on whatever they want. If you have ideas you want to work on, take an "idea person" card at the beginning and you'll be paired with a developer. Take a "developer" card if you want to work on someone else's idea.
