We updated the speakers for the next few meetups. (Had a great response to the call for speakers, so thank you to all who responded.)
Below is information on the upcoming January meetup (1/24).
Be sure to RSVP (and confirm day of) so the host can get a good gauge on the numbers.
Thursday, January 24, 2013
7:00 PM To 9:00 PM
Launch Code Technologies, 575 Market St, Suite 3000, San Francisco, CA
Talk 1: Creative and Alternative Uses for HTTP Response Headers
In our example, X-Messages will help you clean up both your views and controllers. Lastly, we'll talk about how we can use response headers to aid in communication between any of your applications.
About the Speaker
Joseph Silvashy is a software engineer and systems architect with 6+ years of experience building highly-available systems and web apps. Most recently as CTO of Motionloft, he designed and built a distributed network of sensors connected via a cellular grid.
Talk 2: A Working Proposal for Rapidly Leveling Up Rails Developers + Strong Discussion
In this talk, Jeff Dickey will present his framework for getting developers up to speed quickly and having them committing to production from day 1 and proficient by day 5. He'll also open it up to solicit input from others in the audience on approaches for even greater leveling up. We'll have several other top SF Ruby firms on hand to offer their insights and best practices. Bring questions or share strong opinions on how to build a better developer (yourself or someone else).
About the Speaker
Jeff Dickey is an engineer at Tapjoy, a monetization and distribution platform that may be one of the largest Rails platforms in the world with over 10,000 server requests per second. He's worked on Idle Worship and pokemon.com and is a co-author of the mailboxer gem. Jeff grew up on a cattle ranch and is very proud of it. Life in the big city is a lot of fun, but sometimes he misses throwing bales around on the farm. You can read more on him at www.dickey.xxx.
