Monterey shore dive Monastary North, Sun. Oct 20

Conditions are looking good for a flat water weekend. Which leads me to finalize a first dive at Monastery North (or South if there too much surf) and a second at Monastery South for Sunday.

Let me know, if you need more info.

Nice site. Will do it again soon. South was an easy fin out to the Kelp beds, but a hard walk over the beach. Waves were knee high and larger. Half the group did North for the first dive and South for the second. Pack mules? How about pack goats, smaller investment and they clear vegatation and provide milk afterward?

Going South, park on the ocean side of the Route 1 in the first parking area--which is a wide sandy shoulder, not a formal parking area--after you descend towards the beach on the right. You can't see the beach from this parking area, it is behind a thicket, but you'll have access to the North side of the beach there. Call or text me in the morning is you want: [masked]-0902. I'll wear a colorful bandana if I can remember to.

It is a rough entry and exit, and if you change your mind you can dive Monastary South which is down the beach and quite a good dive and a far safer entry. I will dive probably dive Monastary South for a second dive.

No facilities, bring water, food, etc.

Are there any park fees, like there are in Point Lobos?

(well not "no" facilities: there is a bathroom, as I recall....)

There is a bathroom all the way in Monastery South. Like Enrique says, this is a tricky entry and exit which makes it an advanced dive. I found this dive site description so if you have not been there you know what you are getting into: http://www.montereysc...

Recently did 4 days of diving in Catalina. I have not been diving at that spot. You all mind if I tag along.

Hi Felipe, I can't make Saturday, but will do Sunday, which also looks good, or better depending on which model you look at.

I'm confirmed for the NCUPS gathering on the south end, since they posted first... :P but I certainly plan on multiple dives, so maybe I can join you guys later, or vice versa.

Surprise, surprise, NCUPS is doing a meetup dive at Monastery South on Sunday. http://www.meetup.com/NCUPS-Eve...

Any case, still will do Monastery North for the first dive, conditions permitting, then locate the NCUPS folks and join them for dive #2.
