March Meeting: Deployment Methodologies

We meet again in-person with guest presenter James Loghry, Technical Architect and Salesforce MVP with EDL Consulting out of Rochester to talk about best practices, methodologies, and tips/tricks on deploying in

James will walk us through the proper setup for sandboxes, change methodology, and the many mechanisms available to deploy code between organizations.

We will be meeting at the Eagan Community Center and will provide light snacks and water/soda.

To celebrate our two-year anniversary, we will be giving away a Roku media player and some other cool swag!  How slick is that?  =)

Also, we will be serving Green Mill pizza and beverages - we need to order food about a week prior to the event, so please RSVP in a timely fashion so we order enough food.

See you there!  If you are not able to attend in person, we will have ReadyTalk running for you - register now at

    Very useful meeting. Thank you.

For those of you that are using source control tool, which one are you using? I've heard of Bitbucket & Github so far. Thank you in advance.

Great Meetup. Thanks to James for presentation on deployment methodologies, very good information. I've been using Ant for last couple months. I may be in the minority, but I'd like to possibly have a deeper dive into Ant that may cover tips/tricks best practices. Also, the conversation around Source Control towards end of meeting might be another future topic...

Thanks Andy, Kashi and Theresa for putting this Meetup together.

Very useful and nice meet up. For next session can we have something from consulting perspective like you have won a new client and they are pretty interested on using sales force as an ERP to have some modules for marketing and hr department but they never had salesforce before, how the infrastructures should be laid out for enterprises just starting with sales force. It would be gr8 to get the knowledge from others who have been using sales force or implemented similar IT projects b4

Hi Suvoraj! thanks for the feedback. As a quick note to help you get moving on this ASAP, Salesforce is definitely not an ERP platform, but there are some great AppExchange packages that will help you to get started. Kenandy ERP I've heard is a great one as well as a few others.

Thanks Andy. Still if you can arrange some future session or a 15 min knowledge sharing session during regular events on this areas it would be nice to have, particularly focusing on how the environments or infrastructure should be designed for new Enterprise customers (mid to large) who are just stepping into SalesForece for their custom marketing needs.

I thought the meeting was good overall, just wish there were more hands on training or Q&A of the development problems users are facing
