FYI

I expect you won't get this in time...but if you do, there's a good jam in Alta Dena on the 2nd Sunday, at a coffee shop. Goes from 11:00 AM to about 2 or 3 or so.

Check this calendar for details:

I think you'd get a lot out of it.  Level of musician ship is quite a step up from our monthly jam.

Cheers,

Phil

Can't figure you out.  When you play, you sound like seasoned veteran.  When you talk, you sound like a newbie.  Hmm....don't think I wanna play poker with you.

Hello Phil:

I'm interested in a primer.  I still don't know what the hell is going on :)

Howdy doodle all.  Hope everyone is having a groovy day.

I know a lot of you are not regular jammers...some of you may have never even been to a jam at all.

Others have been to a few but still aren't quite comfortable walking into a room full of people you've never met and dont' know what to expect.

So, I put down some of my thoughts about how to get the most from your few hours in a jam.  I tried to make it sort of open ended enough to work for regular and experienced jammers as well as those just who've just "jumped in" for the first time.

I posted it to our site as a PDF and please feel free to pass it around if you like it.  Also please feel free to give me feedback, postive or negative either one.  I'm pretty resiliant.

In fact, maybe share jam tips of your own with me (Phil) at [address removed] and I'll compile an "SFVBluegrass Jam Guide"

Also, does anyone have interest in a "Nashville Notation" primer?  That's where we talk about chords with numbers rather than letters ("Oh, it's a 1 - 4 -5 -1 that goes to the 2 in the B part")?

If you're on the fence about coming to my Valley jam tomorrow, please, join us at 7:00 PM (see site for details).  We just got blinds for the house so maybe no bare windows (but they might not be up yet).  Might even have a mirror in the bathroom (but don't count on it).

Cheer all,

Phil
