I was saying last night I was pretty sure I'd read Geoff's story "Oh Happy Day". I must have read it in the 1st Interzone anthology, which is currently buried in one of the boxes in my spare room (unless I foolishly donated it to a charity shop).

Sorry, but on the plus side, I have started next month's book.

Geoff Ryman is a Canadian who has lived in England since the early 1970s. This story is available in two editions. Published originally as a stand-alone novella (134 pp) with interior illustrations by Sacha Ackerman, it won the 1985 World Fantasy Award for Best Novella. It was republished without the illustrations but with three other stories in a volume entitled Unconquered Countries. Copies of both editions are available cheaply (and expensively!) at amazon.co.uk or bookfinder.I will let Geoff know we are discussing his book and invite him to visit. However, he teaches creative writing at Manchester, lives in Bloomsbury and Oxfordshire, and frequently visits California and Cambodia, so he might not be available.

Next: Invite friends
We love science fiction and want to talk about it.
We read and discuss one book a month -- but discussion ranges over the whole gamut of media and related genres and there will be forays into other such areas according to demand.
It is to be hoped this group will attract not only fanatics but people new to the genre and, perhaps, some who had forgotten just how much they love it.
Please nominate any books you regard as science fiction in the discussion forum here:
