This will be an event to both network and show, discuss, and get feedback on what you're working on and comment on others' ideas. I have a 36" screen for viewing DVDs and websites on the Internet, so you can show your work in various formats. Please note that I now live in Lafayette, a few blocks from downtown, about ½ mile from BART. I’ll send the exact address to those who RSVP a day before the meeting.
We'll start off with networking and a potluck from 7:30-8:00. Come with business cards. If you have projects where you are looking for participants, such as directors and actors, you can announce these. We have a Casting Connection box for actors who want to bring their headshots and resumes, and anyone looking for actors can look through this.
The forum featuring clips, works in progress, scripts for feedback, script ideas, pitch approaches, etc. will be from 8:00-9:30 or 10, followed by more networking until 10. Bring your clips to show what you are working on, and if you want feedback on any film and TV projects -- from ideas to videos you are ready to promote, please come with your questions for discussion. For feedback on a script, bring up to 10 pages, and we'll do a reading with different roles. I have recently raised $25,000 for a feature film The Suicide Party going into production in July in Las Vegas and have entered a short for it in about 30 film festivals, mostly in California, so I can talk about fundraising, crowdfunding to appeal to investors, and entering festivals in general.
Whether you're a producer, director, screenwriter, actor, or otherwise involved in the film or TV industries, please join us.
Some possible topics for feedback might be:
- deciding which project to produce
- choosing a title for your film or TV show
- making choices on casting
- finding locations
- developing a pitch for selling your film, TV show idea, or script
- doing promotion
- entering film festivals
- creating a website or Facebook campaign
- getting feedback on your script
- finding funds
Come with your ideas, and we'll have room to showcase and provide feedback for 5-6 participants. Everyone else, just share your feedback.
For those who haven't been here before, I'll send out the exact location and directions a day or two before the event for those who have RSVPed. I'll provide some juice and soda, and others can bring other things to share. Please indicate what you are bringing in the comments when you RSVP, so we have a nice diversity of things.
As in my other groups, I have a No Show/No Cancellation policy, so if you sign up, don't show and don't cancel, after 2 times, you won't be able to sign up for this event anymore.
