I was inspired by Harold. Great meeting.

There are literally thousands of ways to get deeper training in Photoshop. Showing me the possibilities of the tool is exactly what a user group should be about. Not necessarily showing me exactly how to do it. Too often user groups are seen as free training and while we can learn, it's not, and should not, be the focus.

I was disappointed in the meeting. The exhibition of images was excellent, but there was no depth. I was expecting a little more demo of the layer by layer work at least once for each of the mentioned techniques. Is the artist doing the adjustments the way I would think I would attempt them ?

As someone who is fairly new to PS, I was expecting to walk away with some pointers or techniques which I can apply to my photos; however, it was basically a display of his artwork... The title of the meet up made it seem like we would receive some kind of insight into making better images, but that was not the case. Nice pictures though!

I didn't go but I read in depth the write up on the initial invitation and I deduced it would be an talk about his artwork and minimal talk about the specific workings of Photoshop. Davis' work is amazing and for that reason I would think the presentation would have been priceless. However, I too want to know more about the process. I have learned that there are no shortcuts to photoshop and suggest that you look into learning processes through classes and to get wonderful creative results a lot of practice and a keen eye needs to be developed.

It was a good presentation, and Davis has a visionary outlook. I enjoyed the talk and came away with some good ideas. I did expect to see more detail on the techniques he uses, but I understood it well enough to sort it out myself. Thank you Adobe for hosting and providing the pizza etc.

Harold Davis was great and very inspirational. I would have really enjoyed his "walking thru" the steps for one of his images, but probably not one of his objectives.

To much about me and not enough on how to. Would've been nice to see some actual process, technique and thought about the art.

Are we required to register elsewhere apart from RSVPing here? I see there are 280+ people who have RSVPed 'Yes', but there is no higher limit on how many people can attend.

Is there a list of topics/items to be covered?

    January 14, 2013

    • Dan C.

He's mostly going to showing his work, explaining what he did to create the images, and take questions. I'll see if he has an actual topic list.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
