This is the rescheduled February 20th fantasy shoot

This meet up is the rescheduled fantasy shoot. described as follows:

Have a fantasy shoot with a model or two. Many ideas are available for this from sci-fi to warrior, alien, children stories (Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, etc.) or just about anything out of the ordinary. Discuss items and obstacles to consider for such a shoot. Creating the vision, planning and executing the shoot.

I have arranged for an amazing facility with an unbelievable backdrop. All your ideas can be used with this backdrop, as such I need your input on what you would like to make happen please fill free to contact me. We can still use models and props from steam punk to captain America. I'm excited, this has all the potential to make your favorite portfolio shot, with enough variation we don't have to have all the same shot..

Our only obstacle is to have enough members to RSVP and pay, the high facility fee payment is required one week prior to the shoot.

Many members RSVPD to the prior 20th meetup without paying. for those of you who did please just RSVP again the site will ask you for payment.

For all others the RSVP option will remains open.  I will announce when we have enough paid members to cover for the facility fee.

Thanks paul for coordinating the evening. Tried to post some quick photos to the event--not sure if I'm the first one or if I did it wrong but looks like you can click above or I put them here:

Can we still sign up? Is it going to be at the location discussed or the studio?

    Are we still on?
    What gear should we bring?
Is it at the Co-op Studio?

Richard thanks for the inquiry. The shoot is on, we have models, styling, props, make up. We still need hair. We meet at the studio, looking forward to seeing you there

    (part 2)
und; flaring the lens with high sync flash modes and backlighting for drama etc.; rear or second curtain sync recommendation, etc. Space on the whole is large enough that groups shouldn't interfere with each other-though individual areas are tight there's still enough room to shoot with about whatever focal length you want and find a dynamic shot. Not sure how that all works since I don't know the location, but conveying what I think I heard. Paul will need to explain further, but looks like anyone with Nikon or Canon triggers, or Pocket Wizards, would be welcome to bring them, and light modifiers around 30" tops would be useful as well, gels for speedlights, too.
Sounded like several models are on board already, including one very dedicated Captain America fellow.
Paul and others in attendance tonight can clarify and amend whatever I got wrong, but hopefully this helps generate awareness and interest enough for 70 people to pay up.
    Cheers my photographic friends.

So just in case anyone was a bit lost as I was here's the gist: "paul hanseen" is the one to look for communication from as he is generously organizing the whole event. There was a basic explanatory meeting tonight (Feb 20) for the SLC group and another similar meeting is to be held next week, Feb 27 for the Utah Photo club--both groups of which will comprise the hopefully 70 total PAID members who'll participate on March 6th. Pay along with your RSVP if you're serious about it happening.

If you missed tonight's meeting, these are the basics: Location is booked but undisclosed for privacy reasons. Incident reading at the highest ambient light level is ISO 320 at f1.4 and 1/15 shutter. Not going to be much room for anything but a couple speedlights and modifiers. Paul recommended several techniques like shooting subject and background separate with shutters pertinent to each and combining in post; inverse square law considerations due to quick flash fall-off; light painting backgrou

So if we paid for the 20th our payment transfers? We need to pay again? Or we get a refund, invest the $20 in a money market and reap significant interest by the time the meetup actually happens? ;) And what about the planning meeting on the 20th, or was that the 1st? Thanks for the efforts of those involved in creating this, but kinda lost here...
