Speaking Politically

A couple of our members (Sean & Rick) on separate occasions have said to me, "What is the point of having a liberal group if we are not going to talk politics."  While some of our members, such as myself, simply enjoy the company of like-minded individuals, there are still others of us who like to talk politics.  Here is your chance.

I do not do a very good job of keeping up with current events, so my role in this event is to get everyone together and then just sit back and listen and learn.  So if there is anybody who would like to volunteer to act as moderator you are more than welcomed.  Or if anybody would like to bring topics for discussion, please do so.  Oh and also, PLEASE BRING YOUR BEST POLITICAL JOKE.

We will be meeting in the upstairs room.  Devil's Daughter has $.33 wings on Wednesdays and if you want to hang out afterward, Karaoke.

Yes I enjoyed the debate and found the ideas offered interesting and useful.. All new ideas start as controversial and this is no different. Worth some thought in my humble opinion

I apologize for the acoustics in the room. The way I actually envision this meetup was that we would be broken up into smaller discussion groups, like we were later in the evening. Hearing each other wouldn't have been such an issue if I would have arranged the seating to reflect my intention. As it turned out we all had one big group discussion which does have its advantages but was not ideal for the venue.

Thanks for an interesting discussion. I enjoyed exploring the ideas presented. Although I found it hard to hear and engage because of the venue arrangement.

I like the idea of a political discussion and the food was fine and prices not that bad but the venue just wasn't set up for such a meeting. Even when the music upstairs was turned off the music from downstairs made it hard to hear. And the shape of the room (long and narrow) had us so spread out that even during lulls in the music it was still hard to hear what was being said at the other end of the room.

I hope more of these are scheduled but at a more appropriate venue. FWIW, two of the organizations I belong to hold their meetings in the private meeting room in the back of the Denny's on 250 W 500 S in SLC. The foods so-so but the room is closed off from the rest of the building, very quite and conducive to serious discussion.

I'll bring everyone a free copy of my book, _Changing the World: Policy Suggestions for the Ninety-Nine Percent_

Whoops! I only have 16 copies of the book and it looks like twice that will attend, so I am making the ebook free on amazon.com Wed. and Thursday. Just go to the Kindle page and type in "Changing the World by Koda" and you should be able to find the free download link.
