Salt Lake Gallery Stroll

This is a joint meetup with the Salt Lake Singles 40s and Over.

Based on lessons learned from past gallery strolls, I am only listing 4 galleries on this tour.  The walk is 1.29 miles in total.  I will bring the list of participating galleries and we can decide if we would like to continue after eating at the Cheesecake Factory.

Most galleries provide snacks, but nothing substantial.  If you are worried about your blood sugar levels I would recommend having a sandwich at home before you leave.  We will spend 20-30 minutes at each gallery depending on its size.

Itinerary...

At 6:00 pm meet at:

Utah Museum of Contemporary Art – 20 S West Temple; [masked]
Presenting Utah Biennial: Mondo Utah. UMOCA is taken over by a series of exhibitions within the larger framework of the biennial.

Illume Gallery of Fine Art – 60 E South Temple #115; [masked]
Come and join us! Our Grand Opening Show continues, featuring 35 nationally-recognized painters and sculptors including J. Kirk Richards, Michael Malm, Kate Starling, Kathleen Dunphy, Kim Lordier, Jeff Legg, Dave Santillanes, Ben Hammond, LeRoy Transfield, Gary Ernest Smith and others.

Mod a-go-go – 242 E South Temple; [masked]
Mod a-go-go will play host to ghosts, ghouls and geeks for our Halloween Group Show. Artists, from all over the Salt Lake Valley, have risen from their tombs to contribute to a large collection of Halloween themed art and costume contest.

Lanny Barnard Gallery – 74 S Main; [masked]
Featuring a city street in autumn splendor. Lanny painted this from memory and maybe it is better than it was in person.

Cheescake Factory at City Creek - corner of 100 St & Regent
Menu features more than 200 menu selections made in-house each day - using only the highest quality ingredients - which combines to create our remarkable tastes.

Was there at the beginning, great group!! My boys were less than enthused about being the only young ones there though so we went on our own tour... Next time it will just be me... ;)

darn it, we were late, but my 14 year old sulked out of it; it was just Zeke - who has no problem, in fact prefers, being the only child.

For our new members I will tape a meetup sign on a wall near the entrance where we will meet. If you come later we will meet at the same spot to go to the next gallery. I will write the time on the sign of when this is going to happen.

As far as transportation & parking goes... you can take a blue or green line on trax and get off at the Temple Square stop at 155 W South Temple, then walk 1/2 block East to West Temple then turn right (South) and walk a little way to our meeting location. If you prefer to drive, City Creek has pretty cheap parking. Depending on how long we take parking will run you $1-$4 at City Creek.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
