UPDATE: Gayle isn't feeling well and may not make it. Just meet in the little front lobby and don't be shy about saying "are you with the Meetup griyo?" Have a great time everyone! -Kim
Hey Culture Seekers - get "cultured up" with live theater at SLAC. "4000 Miles" by Amy Herzog is a Pulitzer Prize Nominee (Finalist, 2013) Obie Award (Winner, 2013), and Time Magazine's Play of the Year 2012. Content for mature audiences only!!
Synopsis: Leo is 21 and on a cross-country bike trip to run away from his problems, when he makes a stop to see his feisty 91 year old grandmother, Vera, in her rent-controlled West Village apartment. What starts as a one night visit turns into a month long stay which will infuriate and bewilder these two unlikely roommates. Their friendship will challenge their perceptions, push them outside of their comfort zones and finally show these two outsiders that they are not alone. The New York Times says, "A funny, moving, altogether wonderful drama. . . A heartening reminder that a keen focus on life's small moments can pay off in a big way onstage."
Call SLAC at[masked] to buy tickets ($36) in advance. Ask to be seated with Kim Correa's group and ask for my season ticket discount.
If they tell you it's sold out, you can still show up - there are usually last minute openings due to season ticket holders switching their dates.
We usually meet up in the front lobby, then head in just before show starts. Afterwards, we usually go to Red Iguana for Margaritas and lively discussion.
