1st meeting of the Salt Lake City Python Web Developers

We launch our first meeting for all SLC web developers at Zaniac Sugar House. Join us for a quick talk about some django goodness and share your experiences at our round table.

As this is our first meeting, this is also where *you* will get to help us establish traditions!

Thanks @Faris for getting us going. Thanks for the Two Scoops book. In my latest big project http://follow.claront.com I learned how to do an Octopress blog http://octopress.org. See you next month

Great meeting you all! Thanks @Faris for hosting.

A few people asked me about some other meetups that may be of interest to you. First off there is the SLC Hack Night, http://www.hacknightslc.com - next is Feb 27 after a few months hiatus. Second there is the civic engagement / hacking group OpenSLC, meeting every Tuesday on Google Hangout and about once a month in person: http://opensaltlake.org . Lastly there is the local OpenStreetMap group, we meet this Saturday at Joffee's, across the street from Zaniac, more info here: http://www.meetup.com/openstreetmap-slc/

In the middle of my first bigger Flask project. Any Flask users coming tonight? I'd love to compare notes!

Flask is my framework of choice too. Doesn't mean I use it often though ;-)

Feel like the flask ecosystem is a bit of a minefield - some extensions are great, some are flaky - and you kind of have to feel your way around.

Definitely wanted to make this one but won't be able. I'm pretty excited this group appears to be taking off though. I certainly plan to attend when I can in the future

      Looking forward to it!

I am seriously considering attending, but need to to know what is expected of the attendees. attending this meeting will require me to miss the non-language specific (but primarily attended by .Net developers) Software craftsmen group.

Hey Luiz, I'll be emailing an agenda to the group a wee bit later tonight. Nothing big is expected of attendees, this is just a chance to socialize, teach, and learn. We'll also be having a raffle and talking about traditions and topics we'd like to try out.

Hi all, Just learned about this group today from a friend. I would like to also introduce you all to Utah Python. A regular group which has been meeting for several years. We currently meet at needle.com on the 2nd Thursday of every month.

More information is available at http://utahpython.org

Newbie, but I like what I see of Python and want to learn more. Ruby has a downtown and a south valley group, so convenience is good.

It is nice to be able to walk to this one, but I love the UtahPython guys. I think I'll try to make both going forward. :)

Just an FYI, I had to move our first meetup up by one day (Wednesday) because Zaniac Sugar House is playing host to the Sugar House chamber of commerce that Thursday.
Starting in March we will be having our meetings on the first Thursday of every month.
