MBNEP Presents: Discover "Creek Bugs" Up Close

http://www.mbnep.org/

Coming in July, mayflies, stoneflies, scuds, and other "creek bugs" all will be at your fingertips in a workshop at the Morro Bay State Park Museum of Natural History.

This workshop is open to people of all ages and will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 2 p.m.

Come discover where these unique specimens live, how they grow in the water, and what they tell us about the health of creek waters that feed into the Morro Bay estuary.

Each spring, Estuary Program staff train Citizen Scientists to tread gently through the waters in our local creeks to collect samples of macroinvertebrates, a.k.a. creek bugs. Those samples are sent to a lab for identification, and the results are used by the Estuary Program and others in their efforts to protect and restore Morro Bay and its watershed. Thanks to a grant from the Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust, the Estuary Program and Museum are partnering to bring macroinvertebrates to you. The workshop is free and the museum entry fee is waived for attendees.

short, but nicely presented, more for children than adults. Nice use of microscopes and docents were helpful
