Change of venue! SLO Volunteers for the Environment will be hosting a beach site for the 29th annual California Coastal Cleanup! We will be in Old Port Beach / Port San Luis, which is just west of Avila beach. Please check out this very high-tech graphic for more info:
We want the bravest, most dedicated volunteers! You must be willing to dodge off-leash chihuahuas and take the chance that it might not just be sand you're feeling between your toes...
Honestly, this is a beach that needs a good clean up. The trash up on the roads and parking lots will blow or wash into the ocean at some point. All the fishing line and hooks on the pier put people and animals in danger. This may not be the loveliest beach to clean-up, but it may be the worthiest.
We have raffle tickets for people who bring their own gloves and containers to collect trash! We have free Chipotle burrito coupons for the first ~20 people that show up (possibly more)! We have big smiles and will be extremely grateful for anything you can do!
I hope to see you there! Please RSVP so we know you're coming: http://theecoslo.ivolunteer.com/ccd_2013

29th Annual California Coastal Cleanup
ECOSLO is once again partnering with the Coastal Commission to bring the 2013 California Coastal Cleanup Day event to San Luis Obispo County on Saturday, September 21st from 9 am to noon. Every year, ECOSLO coordinates cleanups at 28 beaches from San Simeon to the Oceano Dunes. Even though Central Coast beaches are cleaner than some, in 2012 nearly 2,800 pounds of trash and recyclables were removed from our San Luis Obispo County beaches and creeks by over 1,000 volunteers. Be sure to sign up to volunteer by clicking the link below. Act now before your stretch of beach fills up! Sign up for your beach site here!
