Great Chowder Cook Off

Caution: This culinary event is centered entirely around seafood.  Please do not RSVP for this event if you have a seafood or shellfish allergy!

"On Saturday, June 1, 2013, the legendary Great Chowder Cook-Off officially kicks off summer in Newport! Be a part of the original, largest, and longest running (over 30 years!), chowder bonanza in New England located right in the buzz of historic downtown Newport.  With a wide spread from national to regional competitors, festival-goers will taste-test a myriad of traditional and exotic chowders from all kitchens, then vote for the best in three categories: Clam, Seafood and Creative. The winners’ pots are bigger than ever this year making this culinary competition piping hot! In addition, we’re cooking up new, exciting ingredients for the 2012 Cook-Off, so stay tuned while we stew on the details and get ready to savor the start of summer at this most anticipated annual event!"

We will meet at the entrance to the Cook-off no later than 10:45 for participation in the Chowdahead Club event preview.  Note that participating in the first hour requires tickets to be purchased before May 1st! If you miss this portion of the event, you may meet us inside the Cook Off at Noon.

From their webpage: "Chowdahead Club: Is an exclusive access pass for our hardcore chowder fans! Membership grants you access to the Chowder Power Hour, a one-hour preview event from 11am-12pm before the gates officially open to the public. Only fellow Chowdahead Club members are invited to navigate the event before the crowds arrive, meet the chefs, greet participating team members and get the very first tastes of 2012′s chowder creations. Get your tickets by May 1st and you’re automatically granted Chowdahead Club membership!"

Tickets are $15.00 before May 1st, $20.00 after May 1st, and $25.00 at the door.  You may purchase tickets at this link below. Be sure to purchase your tickets before May 1st to participate in the Chowdahead Club event.

    I wanted to let you all know the hour ealry tickets for the Chowder club are sold out. The Discounted price tickets are still 15.00 until 5/2/13 then go up to 20.00. So If you haven't purchased your tickets now would be a good time. Day of event tickets are $25.00.

    For any of you coming at 12 noon I will give out my cell # day before and meet at a spot inside the gates.
