Orange County Jewish Conservatives

To All:

Our next monthly meetup of Orange County Jewish Conservatives will be Sunday January 20th at 1:30 pm in the Katie Wheeler Library near the Tustin Marketplace, as usual. I've attached something you might find interesting to help spur our discussions, which continue to be quite lively! You can now find our meetups on the Community Calendar at the Jewish Federation's website, located at: http://www.jewishorangecounty.org/ .

Please check out the Dec 2012 issue of the Hillsdale College's "Imprimus" publication. If you've never seen it before, it's from Hillsdale College and you may note it's their 40th Anniversary of publication. I've been reading them for about 20 of those years and find the reprints of speeches and lectures at the university to be fascinating and interesting. This one is from an interview by Orange County's own radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt with college president Larry Arnn about why conservatives like us should continue to fight for the survival of the nation, as founded. Something on pg 4 really stuck with me and is highlighted for your attention, regarding the "architects of the modern bureaucratic state" and their motivations. It's certainly something to consider, however, here are a few recent records set by their efforts:

8.8 Million on Disability
47.7 Million on Food Stamps
16.5 Million Free Cell Phones in Use (audits in several states show numerous beneficiaries have multiple phones!)
5.6 Million on Unemployment Insurance
4.3 Million on Welfare (1.3 M in California alone!)
$70 Million of California EBT welfare benefits as card withdrawals outside the state ($12 M or 17% in LV alone)
$750 Million of acknowledged fraud by USDA in the Food Stamp program alone, now provided as an EBT card, too.

Perhaps this isn't working out quite as well as those experts predicted or is what they really wanted after all? Look forward to seeing you next week!
