I love to sing, but I haven't been a part of a choir since college and I miss it a lot. I'm looking forward to this very much!

What attracts you most about this Something to Sing About Meetup?

I have always wanted to do this type of caroling, to bring some joyful, seasonal tidings to others. This is a great opportunity to participate without organizing it myself.

It was great to see you again at Jason & Mindy's! You always make the party more lively. I wish Teresa could have made it (she was in Cleveland apt. hunting) - you two can sing great duets. We'll have to have another - maybe a bit more organized? - jam session before you and Teresa move away. Take care my friend!

It was great to finally meet you! You seem like a really fun person. Wish I'd more of a chance to socialize with you, but it was quite the large party. I'm sure I'll see you again at future meetups : )

Hi again Jennifer: ) You don't have to be approved to join even though it is private. Once you join up, the Freethought Dayton site is available to you. The privacy setting just means that you must be a member to access the site. Hope to meet you soon!

Hi Jennifer! Welcome to the Miami Valley: ) Be sure to check out Jenna's meesage board post (basically, peacedayton will be no more, but there's Freethought Dayton instead). We (Freethought Dayton) have a roughly even mix of both women and men (I mention this because I've been told that many atheist/agnostic groups have very few female members). Our group helps to meet my social and intellectual needs. Maybe it can for you too. Jenna is a member, as are several other peacedayton members.

SHOWCASES FOR SINGERS AND ACTORS
For Professionals and Non-Professionals

Greetings and Welcome!
Have you always wanted to sing or act, but never did? Did other things get in your way, like a day job? Or, did you sing/act a long time ago and want to get back into it? Well, here's your chance to make your life-long dream come true!

SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT! gives you a golden opportunity to try out new material or perfect songs and monologues you have already performed or presented at auditions for a live, friendly audience at performance venues in Manhattan. Friends, family, agents and all others are always welcome to attend showcases.

If singing is your passion, PLEASE JOIN OUR MEETUP, and post some information about yourself on your profile page, including any vocal and/or instrumental training and performing experience you have had, your aspirations for the future, your choice of repertoire, etc. All types of music and comic or dramatic pieces are acceptable.

STSA MEEETS approximately two-four times a month at a midtown Manhattan location. It would be very helpful to us if you would tell us which days are best for you! Once you join, you will be notified when the next meetup will take place, That information will also be posted on our message board.

Performers with one-two person cabaret acts or original musical dramas or spoofs are encouraged to join this meet-up. Vocal coaching and performance workshops will provide helpful techniques to enhance your showcase performance. Approximately 4-showcases are presented throughout the year.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES: Showcases, Performances for Children at Schools, Homeless Shelters, theatres, etc.

*Anna Bartos, Soprano/Actress/Voice Teacher/Coach/College Lecturer/Composer-Arranger/Published Author, Instructor, "Something to Sing About!", a group voice class at NYU-SCPS; Director, The Ensemble ALMA and The Enchanted Forest Opera. Creator and producer of showcases in New York City since 1998. Ms. Bartos has sung in opera, on the concert stage, at international festivals and college conferences. Her recordings include Cantares for Soprano and Guitar, Mostly Spanish and You Must Remember This Two. She has won several competitions and grants, as well as NYFA Non-Profit Sponsorship for her original one-woman musical drama, La maja olvidada. She served on the vocal faculty of the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions at the New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development for 11 years, and continues to teach at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies since 2001. Anna Bartos maintains a private vocal studio in New York City.
