We'll leave from the "fish house" on Isle of Capri. Then will paddle out to Keewaydin island, bring your noodles. So we can swim and riding the tide coming in. we can hunt for shells. When were done playing, will paddle back to the "Fishhouse" for lunch. On the trip back we need to use caution as we cross the boat channels, Be wear of tidal currents around us, be alert as we cross around boat traffic. This is the Memorial Day weekend. There's going to be a lot of boat traffic in the channel.  Please this is not a beginners trip.  Intermediate to advance paddlers, recommended.

The outings planned by our organizers. We do not screen these persons nor have we checked out their kayaking abilities. Regardless of what organizers posts an event, when you take part in kayaking or paddling, you alone are responsible for your safety. Kayaking can be dangerous, you paddle at your own risk. Safety is your responsibility. Become aware of the dangers of wind, waves, currents, and wakes from big boats, sun and heat. It's mandatory you have a personal flotation device with you and a whistle when kayaking. Wear your PFD vest, always, Be ready to turn back if you no longer feel comfortable in a situation. No other person knows better what your limitations are than you.

Not looking good for me to go on this. Hubby is in the hospital and we are waiting to see the doctor to see if he will be released today. He is itching to get out!!! Even if he does, I should stay around and keep an eye on him tomorrow. Hope you all have a safe and fun trip !!!

Life and nature are similar concepts because nature is the study of how life acts and interacts within the circle of existence. When we take the time to examine the beauty of the world around us, we are able to see parallels within our own lives. One who is attuned with nature is attuned with the practice of living. All of nature moves in a spiral as do our personal lives. It is important to spend time in nature because in this way we can become attuned to its wisdom. Jeff Z.

We have friends visiting for the weekend. Is it OK for them to join us on this paddle? They will need to rent kayaks. I believe that they can rent kayaks at the "fish house". Is this correct?

Can anyone bring a spare kayak for me or give me and my kayak a ride? We could even use my trailer if we needed to.

This is a great place to paddle. Last time a shark almost ran into Val. Can they swim fast. Turned around right in front of me and then he was gone. On a serious note. The boat are big and they don't slow down for kayakers. Stay to the edge of land and then wait to cross the when it is wide open. One time I thought this big boat would slow down. When I figured out it wasn't Rodger and I had to back paddle to get out of it's way but the wake was great fun to ride.

Hi Jeff, I've kayaked in the Isle of Capri area but not to Keewayden; I don't know that area. I think I'm ok with the currents/boat traffic generally, but I wasn't sure what the total mileage would be from Capri to Keewayden. The most that I've paddled is about 9 - 10 miles.

    February 19, 2014

    • Jeff Z

I think your good, will total a mileage of 3 1/2 miles
