Saturday Shoot at Old Car City

We need to get to Old City for a shoot before the kudzoo takes over again for the summer. Saturday, April 27 should be just right. I know that lots of our Members have enjoyed shooting there, and our new Members have been hearing a lot about it. Old Car City is an auto recycling business in White Georgia, near Cartersville. There are over 200 old cars and trucks in the front area with excellent access and 2000+ more in the back areas. Our friend, Dean Lewis, will open up at 9:00am and lock the gate at 3:00pm. There is an excellent diner directly across the street for a good southern breakfast or lunch. The fee of $15.00 per person provides access to everything.  We must sign an insurance release before entering the yard. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and be perpared for wet soft ground. We'll gather outside the gate for instructions before beginning our shoot.

Directions: Go north on I-75, take exit 296 marked Cartersville/White and turn right. Old Car City is about one mile on the right. See you there.  Jack Martin

Those who were there before, any interesting tips while photographing at old car city?

You have to look everywhere. Don't just concentrate on the cars. Many other objects are located throughout the property.

Hi All, do you know if it is better in the morning or afternoon for pictures at old car city?
Overcast day would be better but if it is Sunny?

Kish, typically in the morning as early as possible. Usually the owner doesn't like to hang around in the afternoon so you aren't able to there for the better light. If it's sunny, go with someone so that they can hold a diffuser for you. Or bring a tripod and you can hold the diffuser.

Had a great time. I forgot all about my broken ankle as I wandered around, but it was worth it.

I was unable to link my Facebook page to my membership. There was a button to click on for support but when I clicked on it nothing happened. Any help for this would be appreciated.

Certainly enjoyed visiting with you at OCC Saturday. Hope that foot is well soon. Keep working on those exciting stories about how it happened. I'd like to send you some of my pics from the shoot if you will send me your email.

Hi Jack, my e-mail is [masked]. I posted some of my pics from this weekend's Old Car City, but unfortunately I realized after I posted them that I put them on a trip that took place in March. When I get the chance I will delete them from there and try to find where to post them for this weekend.

I broke my ankle and I have to wear a boot on my foot. Do you think that "Old Car City" would be too much walking for me to enjoy this trip?

My son has a soccer game that morning. Would it be OK to show up around noon?

Gosh I would really love to come to this one but it does not look possible on that date for me. What a great location it appears to be!

On a side note, when trying to view any MeetUp event through my smartphone mobile browser or the MeetUp app (android) no pictures show in the description. Photos of those attending or not attending do but no images under the description. Everything works fine when I choose to view the full site either on my smart phone or on my desktop. I sent a message to MeetUp about this bug but just wanted to let you know as well. Does anyone with a iPhone have this same issue I am wondering?

I will try to attend but Champy's in Chattanooga is having their first BluesFest that day and I shoot their photos and may have to be there. ?? I will try to make this event ??
