An Afternoon of "Finding Vivian Maier"

Many of us have been waiting for this documentary to arrive in Atlanta. The Lefont Theater in Sandy Springs will be the only place in town where this film can be seen. Come join us on Saturday, April 12 @ 3:40pm to view this inspiring film of, until recently, an unknown street photographer.

The two early shows on that Saturday will feature a guest appearance by the movie's Executive Producer Jeff Garlin. You will need to purchase your tickets online soon so that you don't miss this particular showing. Purchase tickets here.

After the film, we'll find a place to eat where we can talk about the film. More to come on that later as we work through the details.

Is anyone going again, since I had to miss the trip...been totally out of the Meetup loop for a couple of months. Just had to redo my email address, even thought it was correct. Weird!

I attended an earlier showing of this film. Amazed by how much alike we are in styles and curiosities that it is rather scary! I wish I could have joined the group but had to run afterwards. It was interesting doing further research on her that I am intrigued to go back and see the film again. Others also have her works and have their own take on her so I am definitely interested in finding more about her. Thanks for organizing this get together and bringing my attention to her works! Amazing film. Wished I could have discussed it with the group afterwards, but couldn't be in two places at one time, unfortunately.

Thank you, Carl, for organizing this outing. The film was awesome and it was great to learn more about Vivian as a person as well as her photographic work.

Good morning! I am the Founder of the Atlanta Street Photography Group here in Atlanta and a backer for this film. Our small group is attending the 1:45PM show, which is followed by a short Q&A from the film's director. On behalf of John Maloof and crew, I just wanted to thank you all for supporting the film. I've been looking forward to this day for a long time and I know we will all enjoy it!

I want to go, but was unsure until the last minute (tax time you know). I got them done so I want to go but I can't get any of the links to work for tickets. Not sure what to do at this point.

    April 10, 2014

    • Leslie T.

I did on all links. For whatever reason the links say one thing, and I cut and paste them into a new window but it doesn't work either. Oh well. I'll try the good old fashion way by picking up the phone and seeing if they answer. If the time you all are meeting for is sold out, then I'm going to have to go at another time. I guess I won't be hooking up with everyone after all.

I'm going to attempt to get the tickets at the showing time. I now have to be in Sandy Springs in the morning so this may work out well. If no tickets are available, I'll see when they are (there are multiple showings). Would very much like to meet up with the group for this but it may not happen.

Looking for after movie, dinner location suggestions in the general area. I was thinking of Meehan's Public House, 227 Sandy Springs Pl NE #416, Atlanta, GA 30328. Large place where we can probably get a group section.
