SUMMER OF COLOR
H. Gay Allen, a member of Southeastern Photography Society, will be featured in the “Summer of Color” show, at 2Rules Fine Art Gallery, in Marietta, Georgia, August 3-25, 2012. The membership is invited to the reception on August 3, from 5-9 P.M., as a part of the Marietta Artwalk.
Shown will be ten fused glass art pieces, two of which were designed using her original photography as the basis for the design. The photography is also included in the pieces. Her work incorporates colored, iridescent and Dichroic glass; frit; stringers; and glass and metallic paint, which she uses to give the works a 3-dimensional effect. Each piece of glass is hand cut and fired to a temperature of over 1400 degrees. Some pieces are for wall hanging and some, for tabletop display.
Ms. Allen’s glass work has been shown in various locations throughout Atlanta and has been juried into regular art shows at the Atlanta Artists Center, in Buckhead. She has studied with Kelly Thames, Jenifer Frangi and Carol Webb. She recently received an Atlanta Glass Art Guild grant to study at Arrowmont Art Center, with Jude Schlotzhauer, who has been a studio artist and teacher for kiln-formed glass for more than 30 years.
2Rules Fine Art Gallery is located at 85 Church Street, at the square, in Marietta, Georgia. [masked]-6897.
