We are a group of POSITIVE single moms and dads located throughout Northern Virginia and dedicated to getting out with each other and having social lives with our children. We all agree that our children are our top priority. We are not here to complain about our ex's and we are not a dating group.

We are all different religious and ethnic groups. We are all different types of parenting styles. We are biological, adoptive, and foster parents. We are very active with 14-22 events each month during weekend or evening hours. We are dating (not each other) and we are single and we are separated. We cover all ends of the spectrum. We've even started a childcare co-op for members that are interested in joining.

We are the MOST ACTIVE and child-centered group of single parents in the area! And we were featured in the Washington Post!

As our Single Parent Meetup group has continued into our sixth year (2012), we are excited to have new members join us. We have had over 1,000 events to date and this is a feat no other local single parent group has achieved.


Our group is made up of moms and dads that have various parenting situations and the children range in age from infant to college aged.


We have Meet Up Events each week with at least 2-4 events over most weekends. While we do try to have at least one adult night out event each month, every other event is focused on and involves our children. We do have parents come out without their children to our child-friendly events and we always enjoy their company.

Our events include, but are definitely not limited to: camping, ice skating, movie nights, kick ball games, hikes/walks, comedy shows for adults, plays, cultural and ethnic festivals and events, pot luck dinners, days at the pool, out of town trips, exploring the city, museums, sleep overs, and so much more. This group primarily has events in the central areas near (within a 15-20 minute drive of) Fairfax, however we do travel into DC, out of town for events, and into other Northern Virginia communities when we have venues and events that interest us. We have events in Fairfax, Springfield, and the Vienna-ish area on a somewhat regular basis.


We have parents from all ages, racial and cultural groups, economic groups, and genders as well as from all over Northern Virgina. We have parents who have never been married and who are single through divorce, death, and personal choice. We have parents who primarily come out for adult only events or child only events and others who come out for all events. Some parents have shared custody and may have days "off" whereas others have their children full time.


No matter what the situation we all enjoy getting together for various activities to socialize, discuss life, and share ideas and support each other.


We do hope that members might be able to find activities in the areas that are closest to them and come out to join us.


We ARE:

• Parents who want to make new friends for ourselves and our children
  
• Parents who want to get out of the house and DO things as well as relax at home with friends
  
• Parents who love spending time with our children but also enjoy occasional adult-only time
  
• Parents who are active
  
• Parents who know that sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to meet great people
  
• Parents who love to laugh and are also supportive and thoughtful with friends
  

Who we aren't:

• An online only chat group. We do like to support and chat online, but we are here to MEET each other
  
• Parents who like to complain about ex spouses constantly
  
• Solicitors, spammers, or trolls
  
• Parents who are too busy to come out to meet in person
  
• A dating service or website
