Introduction to Selenium Web Driver - Dave Whalen

Title:  Introduction to Selenium Web Driver

Abstract:

Automated functional testing skills are in high demand.  While there a number of automated test tools available, most carry a pretty hefty price tag.  But that doesn’t have to be the case.  One of the more powerful and flexible automated tests tools available doesn’t cost a dime – Selenium Web Driver.

As an open-source tool, Web Driver is freely available.  Of course nothing is really free.  The cost – you’re going to have to know or learn some basic coding.  I assure you, nothing difficult.  I you’re like the average tester, the thought of doing any coding scares the $%^& out of you.  It did me.  Let’s take baby steps.  First, we need to make Web Driver our friend.  So let’s take the journey together.  The heavy lifting has already been done for you.

There were a number of jobs that were announced in the meeting. Is there a list of these openings somewhere?

Hi Dave - will you be demoing the Python API and methods, or just Java? If Java, how transferable is the presentation to Python? Thanks.

Does it matter if we have Maven / IntelliJ instead of Eclipse?

I'd love to go, but I have another commitment. I'd be interested in the links and notes as well.

I have scheduling conflict and can't make it. Would it be possible for you to post any recommended links for self learning of Selenium. I've just started using the Selenium IDE. My goal is to learn to use the Selenium Webdriver for testing in cross browsers.
