2013 Law Ride

This year the Fairfax County Police, Sheriffs Department and Motor Officers from surrounding counties will escort riders from the Fairfax County Couthouse (parking lot on the corner of West Street and Page Avenue in Fairfax).
In past years this has been a short but cool two part ride. The first part is the escorted ride from Fairfax Courthouse up Rt 236 to I-395, the closure of I-395 to all but the escorted riders across the 14th St Bridge on to RFK Stadium. this ride takes only about 45 minutes with about 250 bikers participating in the ride from Fairfax County and a couple of thousand riders leaving RFK. At RFK there are vendors for ride pins and t-shirts. The second part of the ride is the escorted ride from RFK to the Police Memorial near the court house in downtown DC. This ride lasts about 20 minutes. We usually find parking and visit the memorial and the Police Memorial Week gift store. After that we will head out to grab some lunch.
Participants in the escorted ride from Fairfax are requested to arrive at the parking lot on the corner of West Street and Page Avenue in Fairfax at 0800 am. STAR will meet at the back of the lot and will line up with the others at 0830 am. Just before 0900 there is a ride briefing and the group will pull out promptly at 0900.

The first part of this ride was a short. about 22 miles from Fairfax to DC, longer than previous years, starting at 09:05 with about 30 police motorcycles from Fairfax, Alexandria, and DC as escorts. Overall we had about 80 to 100 bikes and stretched out nearly 3/4 mile Escorts with Police auxiliary units shut down intersections of 236 and I-395. STAR rode in the rear and in a couple of locations we could see the entire group. It was awesome! The second part of the ride started at 10:30 with about 500 bikes. It was shorter, from RFK Stadium to the Police Memorial downtown. We drove around the Capitol Building, cool. Finally, we visited the memorial snd gift store. Then we rode down to 5-Guys in Springfield for a Wayne's Burger meal.

Sounds like a nice event and ride! I am riding all day Saturday to Seneca Rock, WV. If I am not exhausted Saturday night I will change my RSVP.

Rain derailed my Seneca Rock ride. Spent the morning riding backroads of No. Va but plenty of energy for tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

My daughter is coming in from out of state to spend Mothers Day with me, so I won't be joining you for this ride

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
