STAR "Rolling Thunder" Battlefield Ride

Each year local STAR chapters ride to a local civil war battlefield. During the ride we make several stops to listen to our chapter historian as he explains the events surrounding the battles, troop movements, skirmishes, and head to head assaults.

During the ride we use our CB radios to point out points of interest and to continue the description of events. We even answer questions. If you have access to a CB it's worth having for the extra learning and interesting banter between members.

If you are not joining us for breakfast please adjust your arrival to ensure you are present at 9:50 am for the ride briefing. Kickstands up promptly at 10 am.

Chuck, John Suche, and Dan did a great job putting this ride together. Chuck led the large group with minimal disruption and separation despite unforeseen road closures and the crowded DC streets. A ride well done!

Fantastic ride. Battlefield presentation was great and the ride through the country was pretty. Well worth the trip up just for the history lesson...and of course, the fellowship

I had a great time today! Almost didn't come because I had so many things I needed to do at the house but so glad I did. Thank you Chuck and Dan for the wonderful ride and Thank you to everyone for making me feel welcome.

This was a great ride with 26 (or was it 27?) bikes that stayed together because everyone knew how to stay in tight formation, and also because of Dickey's blocking. John's presentation at the battlefield was fascinating. Great ride distance that got us into Thunder Alley with plenty of time to enjoy it. Kudos to Chuck for for planning and leading this ride.

This was a great ride put together by Chuck and Dan. We made one unscheduled stop and had an unexpected detour when Canal Rd was closed. Sorry about the U-turn and the traffic through town. But, we arrived at Thunder Alley before 2, yay.
