Chapter Meeting & Rural Winchester Ride

Mark O'Mealey will lead this ride out to Winchester for an early Mexican lunch at Los Toltecos. From there, we'll head west into the country, cross into WV ride north through more rurality. Once back in VA just west of Winchester, we'll explore the twisties near Cross Junction before making our way across I-81 to Route 11 as we return with the sun on our backs to the east of Winchester. The termination point of this ride will be Gilberts Corner (which is actually a roundabout) at US-50 and Hwy 15, where most of the group will begin to scatter. This is a long ride given the season, and very worth the miles of beautiful scenery.

Ride Vitals: Approx 190 miles Colgans to Gilberts Corner, 1 early lunch stop, 1 Fuel Stop at about 125 miles.

Ride Day Weather Forecast as of Sunday, Nov. 11: Sunny low 50s for a high temp.

Hatchet, VP & Ride Captain, writing for Mark O'Mealey, this ride's leader.

I don't know these back roads were found, but Wow! That was a great ride. As usual, it was great seeing everyone again.

The meeting went well with a great turn out of 13. Of the 13, 9 bikes braved the cool temperatures for the ride. The ride started quickly with a quick, direct transit to Winchester for lunch. After lunch we drove through old town Winchester and into the foothills for some great riding. We actually rode into WV twice crossing our own path a couple of times. The group split at 17 and 50 with the Springfield contingent opting for the quick return via I-66 while the other half continued in through Rt 50.

I will make this meeting and ride if I can. As of Sunday, 11th, I do not know whether I will have to work or not - I normally do work the third Saturday in Nov.

Mark it was nice talking to you the other night. I've decided to pass on next Saturdays ride cuz I think it's going to be cold.

Riders take note: This ride was originally scheduled for May when the days were longer and the weather much warmer. Due to reasons I won't bother going into, it didn't happen. Suffice to say that although the route is not yet finalized, it will NOT be Skyline Drive.
