Meetup starts at 6:30pm, with 30 minutes of social time. Beginning at 7pm, Nicholas Cloud will present Going postal: messaging with postal.js.
postal.js is an in-memory service bus for server and client-side JavaScript development. Nicholas will discuss the differences between a service bus and the traditional node.js eventing model, while demonstrating feature differences between postal.js and EventEmitter. He'll then move to the browser and show how postal.js can augment client development; specifically, how it works charmingly with jQuery.
After a short break, James Kovacs will present Testable JavaScript.
Your client-side JavaScript is code as worthy of testing as any server-side code that you might write, but often JavaScript testing is ignored. This session will introduce you to QUnit and Jasmine, two popular JavaScript testing frameworks. Come see how you can easily incorporate TDD/BDD techniques into your web development stack and increase your confidence that your JavaScript code is as robust as your server-side code.
Starting about 8:30pm, we'll move into a hacking session to experiment with the material that's been presented, and with JavaScript and node.js in general.
Stripe will be sponsoring complementary sodas and sandwiches, and the pub downstairs serves good beer, so come hungry, come thirsty, bring your laptop and be ready to code!
I only got lost in my own code once, so I consider this a success! Seriously though, had a great time, and enjoyed James's presentation on JS testing a lot. It was very timely and informative for me. Great conversations after the presentations as well.

I hope you can make it in July, David. Nicholas is a strong presenter and I think you'll probably get a lot out of his talk. Welcome to STLJS!
