Join me for a viewing of Serenity to benefit charity. From the website (http://www.midcountyjaycees.org/events/view/70):
"The Mid-County Jaycees will be hosting a Can't Stop the Serenity (CSTS) charity screening on June 21 to benefit Equality Now.
CSTS is a unique opportunity to indulge your geeky side while doing some good! Since 2006, fans have organized screenings of Joss Whedon's Serenity to raise funds and awareness to support Equality Now in their work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world. This year’s event will also support Lydia's House, a transitional housing program for abused women and their children. Join us as we aim to misbehave for a good cause!
Junior Chamber International (JCI) chapters all over the world have been working to advance the United Nations Millennium Development Goals since 2003. As part of JCI, the Mid-County Jaycees are proud to be a part of CSTS and the work to promote gender equality and empower women. On Saturday, June 21, 2014, we will be showing Joss Whedon's Serenity at Ronnie's 20 Cine. Doors will open at 9pm There will be a costume contest. Please, no toy guns per theater."
NOTE: Tickets are $15. You are responsible for purchasing your own ticket through the website. The doors open at 9 pm, but I set the event time as 8 pm to give us time to pick up any tickets at will call, gather, and get in line. I don't know if there will be a long line, so I will plan to wait at the meeting spot until 8:15-8:30 unless it looks like the line is getting long (I don't want to get stuck sitting in the front). I will post updates on here if things change and to let you know where I am. I don't want to have to save a bunch of seats, so please arrive early (at the event time on here or before 9 pm) or contact me if you are running late but definitely will be there. If I haven't heard from you and you are not there by the time the doors open, I will NOT save a seat for you.
