I don't know if you've noticed, but we live in a great beer city that's absolutely full of awesome microbreweries. It is my personal mission to try each and every one of them, and I might as well drag you people along with me, so this is the first in a series of Brewery Happy Hours. And we're going to start right in the heart of downtown, at Alpha Brewery.
Why start with Alpha? Because I'm the one planning the event, I don't have a car yet, and I live two blocks away from the place. Plus, I can vouch that it's a really excellent joint, and well worth the trip. Also, they have big tables and it's generally fairly quiet on weeknights, which is a good situation for a meetup. Oh, and it comes first alphabetically. All good reasons.
The brewery is around the back of the building, so don't be fooled by the Wash Ave address -- just circle around the building and you'll find it cozily hidden away in a repurposed loading dock.
Because they don't serve food yet, you can bring dinner in with you. If you're the sandwich-for-dinner type, a) you're a man or woman of excellent taste and b) I highly recommend Caruso's Deli (http://www.yelp.com/biz/carusos-deli-saint-louis), which is about a block down the street. They do salads, too, for the no-sandwich-for-dinner heathens or the gluten-free folks out there who are attending a brewery meetup for some reason.
Come ring in 2014 with beer, new friends, and also beer!
