This is a sponsored by SURFit USA, a Sarasota based stand up paddleboard, surfing and kayaking company.  Our goal is to get people outside and participating in water sports.... We focus on stand up paddleboarding, SUP surfing and SUP racing in different locations around Florida and (in some cases), the world.

We use the Meet-Up platform to schedule all of our classes as well as social events.  If you want to know what SURFit USA is up to--this is the place to find out.  If you are looking for stand up paddleboard or kayak rentals....call us at 941-952-8245.

Our meet-ups  may include flatwater paddles, ocean paddles, SUP yoga, SUP pilates, open ocean swims, beach boot camps and lots more.  If you have a suggestion for a meet-up, let me know!  We want the group to be for everyone.

Let's get out of the gym and onto the beach to get fit, have fun, and build community.

Meet-Ups are led by trained lifeguards and competitive paddlers/surfers. Join us to get started on some fun adventures in Florida and throughout the world!

A Paddleboard is considered a Vessel

All applicable laws and regulations will apply to the use of a 'stand up paddleboard/paddleboard' that pertain to vessels under the U.S.C.G, such as wearing the appropriate USCG approved 'type' of lifejacket pursuant to the waterway being operated under, and not limited to other regulations. The Chief of Boating Safety for the U.S.C.G. has officially recognized a paddleboard as a vessel.

These laws will apply to enforcement of the boating safety regulations for paddleboard specific use. The USCG considers a "paddleboard" to be a vessel upon research and the criteria used and guidance provided in previous legal opinions regarding whether or not it is specified as a vessel under 1 U.S.C.&3. Based upon the information available, the USCG determined when beyond the narrow limits of swimming, surfing or bathing area, the device known as a "paddleboard" is a vessel under 46 U.S.C.&2101, and therefore subject to applicable regulations administered by the US Coast Guard and its Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety, unless specifically exempted.

SHORE POLICY

As a courtesy to others be on time, avoid the risk of being left behind. If you are not going to make it on time, please call or text 941-952-8245 so that we don’t worry.

THE NECESSARY

You will need to bring your own water, sunscreen, bug spray, towel, hat, water cannon, money, snacks and any other item you think you might need for a day trip. Remember to hydrate before you hit the water. It is your responsibility to have all of the required safety equipment aboard your vessel.

LESSONS

Many of our Meet-Ups are for beginner paddlers.  However, we do not have time to teach proper paddling technique and skills during the Meet-Up.  We can offer private SUP lessons for $55 per person.  Or, sign up for our group Learn to SUP classes on Saturday mornings and afternoons for $35.  These classes are taught by certified lifeguards and competitive stand up paddlers, surfers and watermen (waterwomen).  Contact us at 941-952-8245 to schedule a lesson or email at info@surfitusa.com.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
