A new 3.0/3.5 home campaign is getting started. Here is the deal....
A few friends and I have started a new group, running a game out of my home (303 and Cactus). We plan to play Friday evenings or Saturdays sometime, about once or twice a month. A long time friend and I have decided to join our game worlds together, to create a single, dynamic part of the world. We currently have room for 1-2 more players. He and I are hashing out the minute details, before we get really rolling along.
The game world, as the players know of it, is set on the western coast of a land mass. The populated lands are broken into two distinct areas, north and south, separated by a massive thick and tall mountain range. The mountain range is only passable safely for 4 weeks of the year. The pass is guarded, and passes between, twin volcano peaks.
The south side is a very spiritual land, at odds with itself over the newly discovered 'flash powder', and the might that technology brings to bear, against the edicts and rules of the gods. Wizardly might is found in items, which can be locked and contained, but to use it as a 'caster' is considered uncontrolled, forbidden by the gods, against the laws. Its users are hunted and brought to justice. before the eyes of the divine.
The northern side is a mageocracy. What it lacks in spiritual powers, as it is considered over zealous and subjugating of the population, it makes up in magical powers. Spiritual powers are allowed in items, but clerics and religious types are outlawed and executed, as they are considered to be manipulating the free will of the people and free use of 'true' magic.
Of course, each side is vastly more detailed than just that, but that's the premise. Each DM will run a character, and take over as DM, depending on the location of the player group.
Players will start at 5th level, and your race and class will dictate where you are from. Anything and everything can be worked out, so long as we can make a reasonable explanation (half orc/half elf as an example). We fully expect this game to run into the very high teens to low 20's, of level, and possibly beyond. We are very much into character depth, powers, and the ability to change the world around you, over the long term life of our world. Many things other players have built in previous games, are still in our campaign. The ultimate reward, is to have your character achieve things that have a lasting effect on our world, and/or retire to NPC status, for future games.
This is a tough game world. We will happily take those new to the game, though. Do you have that one character you always wanted to see how powerful it is? Or that favorite retired character, that kicks ass? Or a character you always wanted to play? This is the game. Pull out the heavy hitters, your going to need it.
As I said, we have room for 1 more, possible 2. We would also like an additional DM, and are willing to attach your game campaign to our own. Its a big, unexplored world out there.
