Join us for a fun-packed Saturday trekking through the Surrey countryside and across 800 acres of woodland and chalk downland, with impressive views as far as the South Downs.
On the way we'll skip over over the stepping stones and navigate the wooden logs and visit a tree growing within a castle turret. There are plenty of small nature walks as we climb to the summit of Boxhill.
We plan to meet at “Boxhill & Westhumble” Train Station (10-minute walk from Boxhill) at 10.45am on April 12th. We'd expect to spend about 3 hours for the hike and nature walks and plan to be back at the station by 4.00pm.
Trains to Boxhill & Westhumble run from both Victoria and Waterloo and take between 45-55 minutes. There is a train from Waterloo at 09.24 which gets in at 10.21.
Please note that this is not a long walk (approx 6 miles), the only difficult part is the first 20 min climbing which is uphill and can be difficult for those not used to going up a hill..
Meetup fee: £2
THERE ARE A FEW PARKING SPACES AT BOXHILL STATION (IF YOU GET THERE EARLY ENOUGH). IF NOT, PARK IN THE CAR PARK OPPOSITE BURFORD BRIDGE HOTEL, WHICH IS A 10 MIN WALK FROM THE STATION. PLEASE LEAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GET FROM THE CAR PARK TO THE STATION, I.E. PLEASE PARK BY 10.45AM LATEST.
