Survive and Thrive Group Paintball Outing

Our May meet-up will be a day of paintball. We will be holding the meet up on the 23rd due to the following weekend being Memorial Day weekend. This will be both a fun activity but also have some practical application as well. For example putting into practice some of the technique's that we will learn, in stress management in our April meeting. And as mentioned in the previous mailing about the outing teamwork, co-operation and even some aspects of cover and concealment and evasive movement. But it is about fun too, so there will be a great time of camaraderie and a chance for the group to bond a bit on a social level as well. Our outing will take place at Accurate Paintball in Williamstown, NJ. This field was chosen for it's friendly environment and budget friendly rental packages. All information is posted on their website here
http://www.accuratepa... General group package price will be $50 which includes field fee, equipment rental and 500 paintballs (which for many will be good for the whole day, or consider adding and extra 500 for $5 more.) If you have your own gear field fee is $25 and includes all day air and cases of paint (2000 rounds) are available for $50. Age limit is 10 years old and anyone between 10-17 must be accompanied by a supervising adult over 18. The games will be played from 9am-3pm and everyone should arrive between 8-8:30am to get registered and get your gear etc before playing begins. Wear comfortable clothing that you can get dirty in and comfortable but sturdy footwear. Long pants and long sleeves are recommended. A deposit of $20 for each player is needed, so bring that with you to the next meeting and Either Myself or Fernando will collect them. If for any reason you want to play but will not be at the meeting please let me know so we can work something out for getting your deposit in. Deposits are what will reserve your gear for the day, so they are not refundable if you do not show up. And as mentioned in the previous mailing bring your kids, friends and or family, the more people playing the merrier! Any further questions comments or concerns don't hesitate to drop me a message. Hope to see many of you out for this!

Thanks for everyone who came out, I had a great time playing with all of you and hope we can do it again. It was great seeing all the excitement by the new players and knowing everyone had a good time.

I had a great time at the paintball meetup. Congratulations are in order to the first time players. I thought that everyone on the field showed outstanding sportsmanship, safe, honest/fair play- and created an overall friendly atmosphere for learning. What surprised me most, however, was the ability of this group to catch on the the game so fast. I've been playing off and on for a very long time and I was quite impressed with what I saw on both sides. There was some great shooting- teamwork- and basic tactics displayed in the course of the day. This field was challenging from an orientation standpoint and some of the players were very well armed (both with superior gear and experience) but the new players held out and often overcame the odds. Nice going everyone! Thanks, Steve, for setting this all up- great job- much appreciated!

I must be candid here. I had never played paintball before because I didn't want to. I keep my firearm skills sharp but the idea of shooting at other people ( while I am prepared to do so if need be ) does not appeal to me at all. When Big Steve proposed the idea I hesitated , thinking it was too testosterone intensive for this group . I WAS NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO PAINTBALL.
I was wrong. I had a blast! The practical application of the survival psychology principles , my firearm skill set and my ability to work within a team ( I am a loner by nature ) were all put to the test. I had so much more fun than I thought that I would. The stress conditioning aspect was great! Moving from concealment to cover, crawling through thorn bushes in order to get good clear shots on the opposing team , a shootout in a creek bed where I was pinned down yet sniping others. All were valuable experiences and a test of my mettle.
I am grateful to Steve Blithe as this was his baby from begining to end.
