UNPREPARED!! Basic preps and low cost strategies for the preservation of life

For whatever reasons they give themselves, people often put things off until what they perceive to be the last minute and then they scramble to get things done.

Well there is a lot of scrambling going on right now and there have been MANY requests to S&T for a basic overview of what to do and how to do it post Grid collapse from a novice perspective.

Many families are without great resource in the forms of available money, time, supplies, teamwork and knowledge. This meetup will address the needs of the least among us. The least prepared with the least amount of cash, strength, space and strategy. We at S&T are here to serve.

For all who feel overwhelmed and underprepared these days - this meetup is for you.

We will cover the bare bone "Grid Down" basics here :

Survival Psyche - balancing the heart and mind with strategies that keep us alive through trauma

Water- effective gathering, cleaning and storage

Heat and light- keeping warm and cooking without burning down your home

Food - what to buy and how to store it, grow it & cook it on a very low budget

Sanitation - dealing with waste and maintaining good hygiene

Security - powerfully simple things that fortify your home and keep your loved ones safe

And a whole lot of tips and tricks that most people don't know but should

This meeting will also a great time to show your face and start  meeting more like minded individuals if you want to participate in our upcoming S&T Grid Down Networking  sessions.

If you wish to order food and drinks from the restaurant please do so downstairs before our meetup starts promptly at 4pm. While this meeting is designed for the unprepared, seasoned preppers are welcomed to come and chime in with worthwhile lessons and ideas on these topics.

These meetups are always free and done in service to humanity, please bring friends and family of all ages and backgrounds. Note taking and respectful A/V recording/sharing of the presented material is encouraged. An S&T meeting info sheet will be sent out ahead of time so that you may PRINT your own copy ( printing a few extras is a nice thing to do for others ).

We never allow fear to rule our meetings. We simply love and think well enough to keep our DNA humming in tune from one day to the next. Mindful of our homeostasis. In these actions we honor our ancestors and their untold struggles for us. We empower our future as humans in families and tribes  through the free flow of information and action. You are not just a drop of rain, you are an important part of a very powerful storm that has raged longer than you can imagine.

Take care.

Boy oh boy did we just about cram 6 hours of material into 2.5 hours? There was a great deal of interest in this topic one day before Sandy hit the East coast. Those who chose to make the effort were rewarded, those who didn't ought to either 1, Already know it all and have it prepped or 2. pluck their heads from deep within their own arses.

Such an informative meeting. I have been talking about this group to almost everyone I meet. Such important skills and knowledge being shared! So glad my bud, Matt Bennett, let me know about this group.

Cave Cliff's influence on this group will not be soon forgotten. His dedication to serving folks that want to help themselves echoes through time and I for one will not let that go. With all do respect I credit him for the work to be done at this meetup.

When did Cliff pass away? I just found out he was in this meetup (knew him 20 years ago) and didn't get a chance to reconnect.

Cliff will always be with me for some reason, I cannot explain. Some things in life are inexplicable . I was glad to be with him for his send off, it was a very exceptional day.

This meetup was really informative. I especially liked the part about using hornet spray as a means of defense and making little stoves from soda cans. Good stuff!

Once again, a very informative meetup. I was particularly interested in learning how to stay warm if we lose our central heat. Looking forward to learning more about canning food, especially fruits and vegetables.

Great presentation, covering introductions to a multitude of things that necessarily must be considered when/if the systems we depend upon should falter or fail. Getting a proper mindset - the what, where, how and whys of new skillsets for changed or changing situations - simple, attainable technology necessary to maintaining oneself in the absence of grid dependent goods and services. This still only barely scratches the surface of the many things suggested, most all of which need to be put to practical use BEFORE needed in an emergency - an all day seminar would have begun to be a complete introduction, but still leave entire worlds to be learned. Attendees should take the clues gleaned here and follow them everywhere they can.

Another informative and organized S&T meetup. All the basics were covered regarding self preservation during short and long term grid down events.

Hi, I've been following S&T for a while now, trying to start getting into prepping and survival, but have been too busy to attenisd any meetings. This will be the first meeting I attend and I can't say how much I appreciate you hosting a meet like this covering all the basics. I'm looking forward to it!
