Silicon Valley Big Data Meetup Message Board › Build a Product Recommendation Engine using Hadoop
Mountain View, CA
Hello SVBigData folks,
It's been a while since BigDataCamp. I thought I'd invite you to attend "Build a Product Recommendation Engine using Hadoop" on Tuesday. Victoria Livshitz, CEO of Qubell, is the speaker. She is well known for her insightfulness and I think you will enjoy the talk. SVForum SIG events are normally $20 but mention "SVBigData" and get in for free. But you must register.
Below are the details of the talk.
I hope to see you there!
chair: SVBigData, SVForum Cloud SIG, and more
Speaker: Victoria Livshitz, CEO of Qubell
Summary: This talk will explain, at a business level, how to solve a class of Behavior Analytics problems, such as Product Recommendations for a web site using the Hadoop stack. I will show, step by step, how to take a plain web site and add the personalization capabilities by:
Our platform Qubell is used to deploy, manage and tie together a Web site and Hadoop-based analytics platform. We'll touch on - and demonstrate - how to deploy Hadoop on-demand on the cloud, set-up monitoring, start and stop jobs.
This talk will be based on "Behavior Analytics Starter Kit" that is coming out later this month. The Kit is open-source, self-contained and self-deployable, so anyone interested to further investigate the solution will be able to do so, free from costs (other than Amazon costs), after the talk.
Victoria is a founder and CEO of Qubell. She is a serial entrepreneur, architect, technologist and trailblazer. Before co-founding Qubell, she founded Grid Dynamics to bring next-generation scalable eCommerce platform solutions based on open source, big data and cloud computing to online enterprises. Under her leadership as CEO, Grid Dynamics has become a successful, fast-growing services provider of next-generation, mission-critical technology platforms to Fortune 500 eCommerce companies. She continues to serve as Executive Chairman of Grid Dynamics.
Victoria’s accomplished technical career includes a decade at Sun in principal technical roles such as Principal Architect of Sun Grid, the world’s first public cloud, and Senior Scientist at Sun Labs. She also spent five years as Sun’s Chief Architect for GM. Victoria started her career as an HPC engineer at Ford Labs and reliability engineer at Allan Bradley.
Who should attend? No background in Hadoop or Behavior analytics is necessary. Technically-oriented managers, architects and developers will walk away with good understanding of how Hadoop works in a real word and see for themselves the power of cloud-based development and deployment facilitated by Qubell technology.
