SVForum's VF SIG- A Night with XSeed Capital - Opportunity for you to Pitch

  • Presentation and Pitch Session: Come listen and pitch to XSeed Capital’s Robert Siegel

Founded in 2006 as one of the pioneers of the new venture industry, XSeed Capital works with entrepreneurs to build differentiated technology startups that dramatically change markets.  The firm’s team are all serial entrepreneurs who appreciate the dedication, passion, anxiety and sleepless nights it takes to build something valuable from scratch. With $110 million under management, XSeed makes its initial investment commitments at the seed stage and continue to support portfolio companies through multiple investment rounds.

Robert Siegel is a General Partner at XSeed Capital, with extensive leadership in strategy definition, operational execution, and international sales and marketing for companies large and small. Prior to XSeed, Robert served in upper management at GE Security, Pixim (acquired by Sony), Weave Innovations (acquired by Kodak), and Intel, among others. He is currently on faculty at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, has co-authored several articles for California Management Review, and served as lead researcher for Andy Grove’s book Only the Paranoid Survive.

Learn about their perspectives as to what is they are interested in, what they are investing in and how they operate. We will also talk about their approach to working with companies, and how they are different from other venture capital firms. We will discuss some of the common traits of those companies selected to present to their partnership and those which ultimately were funded.

We will select up to 8 ventures to do 3-minute pitches followed by 3 minutes of feedback.

Note: If you are interested in presenting, please send your executive summary (no more than 2 pages) to Jon Baer, Co-Chair of the Venture Startup and Financing SIG, at [masked]COMPANIES THAT WANT TO PRESENT MUST BE REGISTERED BEFORE WE REACH OUR LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF ATTENDEES.

Moderator: Jonathan Baer, Managing Partner of Threshold Ventures is a recovering venture capitalist who has worked with early stage companies for more than 3 decades. He was also the founder and CEO of two venture backed companies, one a spin out from SRI International. Jon now spends his time teaching, mentoring and advising early stage companies around the world. In the past two years he has worked with companies from Silicon Valley, S. Korea, Singapore, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Northern Ireland, Venezuela, Mexico, Denmark, Australia, Tunisia, Norway, and elsewhere. He believes that startups require tough love and need to focus on money, metrics and milestones. He thinks that powerpoint can be your best friend or worst enemy when telling a story. He teaches CEO’s to say less (yes, because less is more).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
