Sustainability Hackathon

Non-profit org BSR is hosting a Sustainability Hackathon in early November in SF as part of their larger Power of Networks conference.

Teams with the best technology solutions will pitch their application to the entire conference on Friday morning—an audience of 1,000 sustainability professionals from Fortune 500 companies and leading NGOs from around the world. Cash prizes (up to $3,500 for first place) will be awarded for the best ideas created that night, particularly those with a focus our conference theme, "The Power of Networks."

You can build web or mobile applications in the language and platform of your choice. We’ll provide more details on the technology that will be supported on-site as we get closer to the event.

Your sustainability hack is limited only by your imagination. Some examples of problems trying to be addressed are:

- Can sensory networks be used to help businesses reduce environmental impacts and improve operational efficiencies?
- Can remote infrastructure monitoring technology help prevent global tragedies like the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh?
- Can technology connect vulnerable workers in remote countries to avoid human trafficking and migrant labor violations in supply chains?

Hacking will take place overnight at the Hyatt Regency, with hacking space, wifi, meals and snacks provided.
