You are invited to a heartwarming volunteer event!
It's time again to sign up for volunteering at the Salvation Army for the Santa's Toy Shop Program. I have volunteered for this program for the last 12 years and I LOVE it! We had a good number of people go last year. This year, we are going to go on Tuesday, Dec 18 for the 3:30-7:00pm shift, for whomever wants to come! I need to round up 50 people to help out during this time.
My other meetup group will also be joining us --- http://www.meetup.com/Out-and-About-in-St-Paul/events/83044612/
**If you'd like to contribute but just can't make it and/or if you can volunteer with us but would like contribute more, please think about donating some games/toys/etc. for teenage boys and girls. They normally have a very limited selection and are annually in need of more toys for this age group. If you want to drop them off to me, I will coordinate with the Toy Shop to drop them off there. If you'd like to drop them off to the Salvation Army or another location (ie store), please contact Jennie at [masked]
The location is still up in the air. The Salvation Army is looking for a BIG place in St. Paul to have this event – so if you have any ideas or leads, please email Jennie. Wear comfortable clothing and don't bring valuables. Dinner/snacks/drinks are provided for us for free.
The Christmas Toy Shop Program houses all of the toys that are donated by the public at different stores. This program invites parents in need to select gifts/toys for their children for the holidays. As a volunteer on this day, you can either choose to help parents select toys for their children or help "man" the tables with the toys (making sure that the tables are always filled with toys, helping parents/volunteers find toys) or other jobs like check people in, etc.
This is a great opportunity; normally everyone who participates loves it! Kids can volunteer if they are older than 18 years old. If you have a specific question about a child volunteering with you, please contact Jennie at [masked] (she is the Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator).
My goal is to try and get at least 50 volunteers for our shift! You can bring family, friends, coworkers, etc. Please pass this email on and have anyone who is interested to contact me at [masked] Thank you SO much! Last year, I rallied around 60 volunteers! Would love to have you join us. It's such a great experience to "give back" to the community. You will definitely make a difference!
I look forward to experiencing this with you! We can decide there what jobs we will have and I will send out a reminder to you before this event.
If interested, please email me your full name and email address ASAP as spaces are filling up fast! I will send out more information to those who sign up closer to the event day!
THANK YOU for helping out! Michelle
