Naples Tea Party September 12th

This location is shown only to members

The ONLY Tea Party in Southwest Florida will be the 9-12 Tea Party on Pine Ridge Road and US 41 at 10:00 a.m. and run till noon. Barry Willoughby, the organizer, is working with other like-minded groups to make the 9-12 Tea Party a success.
This major Tea Party will run in conjunction with other ones scheduled all across the country, including the big one in Washington. So, for those not able to make it to Washington, here is your chance to be a part of the 9-12 Tea Party movement right here in Naples.

The SWFL 9.12 Project will have a tent at the event. Lorita Pardue, Daniel Cook, Daniel Riley and Stan Kabala will be helping with the event. We need (10) volunteers to carry sign up sheets throughout the crowd. Please email Lorita at [masked] or Stan Kabala at [masked] if you would like to volunteer to help.

After the 9-12 Tea Party Zookies Sports Cafeis offering to tune in some of their televisions to Glenn Beck's coverage of the Washington, D.C. protest from 1-3PM. Be sure to RSVP, it is listed as a separate event.

Don't be misled about the size of today's Tea Party. There were thousands, but the counter wouldn't go beyond three digits.

This was a fantastic turnout, and when we arrived 45 minutes early, in a light rain, there were already about 200 cars at the site. The crowd grew steadily from there, and hundreds lined up on the opposite side of the street with their signs too. The passing traffic was very supportive, and everyone had a great time.

What an awesome experience. The enthusiasm was contagious as it always is when this group of like-minded conservatives (tea) party. Watched Glenn Beck and our patriots who were in Washington, DC from home. A great day among friends.

The 912 rally was tremendous. I expected and hoped for around 200 and instead saw a crowd that stretched for blocks! The estimate was around 2,000. This is spite of the fact that the weather was lousy with off and on rain. I have never felt so proud of South Florida as I did yesterday.

Not only was the passing traffic supportive, many had signs and flags they waved out their windows. Hopefully, those folks will join us next time in person and not just in spirit! Great event, especially since I got interviewed and was shown three times on WINK's report, looking thoroughly soaked and bedraggled unfortunately.

Amazing showing. The people were engaged, the signs were hilarious and the whole thing was memorable. I drove by the site later that evening and everything was so clean and put away , it was as if nothing happened there. Great job and thanks for putting it together.

We could have "spread out" some more. It was a little difficult reading all the messages when they are too close to each other. We walked all the way North up to Pelican on the West side, it was a very informative meetup and we truly showed our disgust and messgaes to our Politicians. Unfortunately I only saw NBC Coller @ around 11:30, I personnaly called Fox 4 News at 10:30 am and I was told that; "We do not have any available reporters" "We are aware of the event". Thanks it was great to be a part of this, again. We all need to write and call friends, family and our representatives and give them our positions and facts on all these issues! There is so much untruth out there. HR3200 allows coverage of Illegle aliens and abortions, it is written in there!

I arrived 10:45 and was thrilled to see all the cars parked along the side streets and then the 1000's of American citizens lined along Rt 41. The banners were all homemade and heart felt. The messages expressed the concerns and fears that "We the people" are losing our liberties and the God given rights of our Constitution. I saw no signs of racial hatred, the KKK or of Nazi symbolism. However, the national media has portrayed these Tea Parties as nothing more than a racial issue, refusing to address the true issues of our concerns. Playing the race card over and over, they simply do not want to talk facts and face the issues. Also 1000's of supporters driving by, honking their horns and waving. A very few non-supporters waving a single finger, I think expressing the number of terms Obama will serve as President. There were also a couple of unfunny clowns on a scooter with an nasty sign about Sarah Palin. Personal attacks from Bozos is all the left has left.

    Couldn't find the Meetup tent

Again, as with all Tea Party functions, the people were superior in deportment, friendliness, help and spirit. With this attitude it is a pleasure to sacrifice a little to be counted as one of this group and I believe soon we will be considered a COMMUNITY...if not already.

This was a great event. All the passing cars beeping their horns, giving thumbs up, shouting support, and the people that attended our booth, bought T-Shirts, books, tapes, etc. Both sides of the street were filled with flag wavers, sign wavers, all the positive action you could wish for. Let's keep the pressure on Washington.
  • Matt Vila
Thank you Cheryl Couture and all who helped organized via “meetup”. This was an awesome rally and we need to keep the momentum going.
  • Shari Monetta
At the height of the Tea Party the estimate was at 3500, it was a Whopper of a great Tea Party, A little rain won't stop us from telling Obama we are against his agenda. The Sheriff Dept had some great Deputies there to assure our safety. The passing cars were 100% positive, I guess the Obama people don't like rain. Hurricane Bill hitched a ride in a cute red Convertable with his big American Flag Flowing behind them, it was like a parade float.

Thousands showed up to the corner of US41 and Pine Ridge Rd. We had a blast sharing US41 with like minded friends that we had just met. Thousands of vehicles passed us honking and waving, while only a few (less than 1%) either gave us the thumbs down or the chosen middle finger. My wife and I were encouraged by seeing a few young (under 18)people in attendance as there is hope for the future.
  • Deana Bess
Great turn out! Even saw some RINO's who laughed at us and called us crackpots last year!
  • Karen Harris
It was a great experience! It was obviously well promoted and very well attended. At least 9 out of each 10 passing vehicles responded positively. The sheriff's department were very supportive - only concerned for our safety.
  • Wilda Smith
There were approximately 4,000 people, but your counter does not allow for four digits, so I had to enter Zero. It was a fantastic, HUGE turnout, especially given the light rain and lack of publicity by the Naples Daily News. The signs were varied, covering dozens of different issues, and were very entertaining to read. We carried our own and had good reactions from our fellow partiers. Most encouraging was the reaction from passing motorists, who either honked, waved, or gave a "thumbs up" to us, and sometimes all three. An occasional liberal gave us a one-finger salute. The gathering was a great success, and I hope our donations will ensure that there will be more such tea parties. One suggestion: Link to other tea party photos to inspire sign makers. The post-party gathering at Zookie's was a wonderful idea too. I hope they made a handsome profit from those of us who went there for lunch, drinks and the FOX News coverage on TV of the DC Tea Party Express.
  • Marla Ray
A great success. I would estimate 2000-3000 people were there.
  • Angelo
Great time! Next time we should do it in front of Bill Nelson's local office!
  • Rebecca Wanamaker
it was overwhelming to see that many folks taking a stand and making a statement of patriotism. I am proud to be an American and proud of the Naples 9-12 group.
  • Anita Martindale
It was great!!! The people were excited to be there and very good natured! My daughter had a comment on face book from a friend who drove past. She told her father-in-law that there was a riot in Naples. LOL. Excellent job of getting the word out. We will not stop until the corruption is out of DC. Thank you for everything. Sincerly, Anita Martindale

It was so wonderful and well prepared. Everyone was respectful and pleasant! So proud to be a part of it!

I arrived before 9 A.M. to find staff and vendors already setting up, as well as many participants ready to go. Wonderfully heartwarming experience for me, and I'm sure for all the other participants there. As time went by, people were lined up with signs (including myself) on both sides of U.S 41 No. from Pine Ridge to Pelican Bay Bl. So. - - turnout had to have surpassed estimates, and the steady, light rain and drizzle didn't dampen people's spirits. I did leave the crowd after 11 A.M., as the rain had pretty-much soaked my clothes over those 2+ hrs. Had planned on the Meetup at the Immokalee restaurant, scheduled for 1 P.M., but too uncomfortable in wet clothing - - so drove back home to Estero. Turned on FOX, to see huge turnout at the National Mall - - and will watch Glenn Beck at 1 P.M.

IT WAS AWESOME!!! WITH THE RAIN, I THOUGHT ALOT OF PEOPLE WOULD JUST BAG IT, BUT THEY DIDN'T. IT WAS VERY GRATIFYING TO SEE THE CROWDS AND TO BE PART OF THIS.
  • Sheila Mahoney
What an awesome experience. I was thrilled so many American patriots showed their red, white, and blue spirit. We had wonderful music, flags waving, horns honking , folks signing petitions and talking about their views and sharing experiences. It was inspiring and uplifting to see so many patriots gathered together to show we are truly united in fighting to keeping our freedoms. I was very glad to be there ! Sheila

This was an example of how important it is for the various Tea Party groups to combine their efforts. The turnout and camaraderie were great! God blessed us with an overcast morning so it wasn't unbearable being outside.

we arrived at 9:20, and were amazed by the number of people already there! the energy of the crowd was electric; even my husband stayed awake - at least for an hour - before he headed back to the car to read and wait for me. met a number of fellow tea-partiers, shared some stories and thoughts on the state of affairs in all 50 states, and vowed to work toward getting rid of the corruption laden House and Senate in 2010 and do the same at the WH in 2012, of not before. really enjoyed every minute, and will do so again!!

I tried to fill in the top box but it won't allow me to put in a large enough number. The turnout for the 912 Rally was tremendous. The crown was estimated at around 2,000. One fellow walked up and down the lines of people (and the lines stretched for blocks!) and tried to get a count. he told me had counted almost 1,500 at 11:00. Cars, trucks and motorcycles that drove through the intersection of Pine Ridge ansd Rt 41 honked their horns and gave us waves and thumbs up. I hope Senators LeMieux and Nelson were paying attention! The people there were ordinary people - all ages from children up to the elderly. And the signs were great!
  • John Vanzant
    Very Inspiring. Great attendance
  • Peggy Gayle
I thought it was great. I was proud to be part of it, and encourged to see so many Americans out there voicing their objection to the way Washington is running things. We must keep it up and take our Country back. Thanks for all the hard work you do. I have not heard the news yet, but heard a couple estimates of # of people, so guess it was between 2,000 - 4,000.
  • Lynna Scofield
Great info in advance - excellent to have parking designated. Law enforcement was helpful and polite in reminding us to stay behind road lines. Hardly any inappropriate signs. Lots of positive response from passersby. Media seemed to be slim in attendance - were they contacted in advance? sent a press release? I'll be interested to see Naples Daily on-line and in print tomorrow. Thanks to all, Lynna Scofield
  • Pat Young
I was proud to be a part of todays Tea Party. I'm not sure how many were there but I would say there were a thousand or more. I hope we continue. You did a great job of putting it together.
  • Kelly Kremkau
Barry, Cheryl, and Tom did a great job at organizing the Naples, Fl Tea Party. There were many that worked very hard standing on street corners passing out info and I believe it paid off. We can only pray that we got the attention of those in Washington that we are taking our country back.

this was the first meetup i attended...i think there were over a thousand people..it was great seeing real Americans voice their opinions!
  • Grant McEwan
Unbelievable how many people showed up in Naples. I was there. Only one TV station was there Wink News. And they interviewed me, but, I doubt if it will show up on TV. I didn't say what they wanted to hear. I spoke about Van Jones the Communist, Barack Obama the Communist, ACORN the Criminal Thugs, and serveral other things. They were not happy with my interview. Who cares. Grant McEwan Progject 12 did an excellent job thank you for your web site and Glenn Beck.
  • Sally Price
It was amazing - approximately 4,000 people attended. People were lined up on both sides of 41 and most passersby were supportive and honked and waved. About a dozen (not many!) gave us thumbs down or one certain finger up, but they were few and far between! We didn't see ANY media there at all, but hopefully someone did cover it. We'll find out tonight or tomorrow. It was wonderful and we are so happy we went!

Don't know how many were there. It was storming/raining in the morining, that might have kept some away. Not sure how many were there, but it was more than I thought would be there. Great turnout and it was very civil. No troublemakers there.
