BLIND Tasting: What's in a Price Tag?

You would think that people would be able to tell the difference between a $10 Cabernet Sauvignon and a $35 Cabernet Sauvignon, right?  Except they can't, according to a 2012 New Yorker article-- even the experts.  Shall we prove them wrong?  For this event, we present six wines with vastly different price points and ask you (deprived of label or sales tag) to decide which is the expensive one.  The wines will of course be revealed at the end.  You may be fooled-- just like the experts-- but look on the bright side: you may discover a $10 wine you were willing to pay $35 for!

Wines for Tasting (subject to availability):

- 1 $10-15 Chardonnay (Mystery!)
- 1 $30-35 Chardonnay (Mystery!)
- 1 $10-15 Pinot Noir (Mystery!)
- 1 $30-35 Pinot Noir (Mystery!)
- 1 $10-15 French Bordeaux (Mystery!)
- 1 $30-35 French Bordeaux (Mystery!)

As usual, we'll start off with a quick discussion about smelling, tasting, pairing, buying and storing wine.  Gourmet small bites will be served, but you may want to plan on dinner after. Please pay via Paypal when you RSVP. (If you would like to pay by cash or check, send an email to [masked]) If you don't eat/like any particular food, PLEASE let us know in advance-- otherwise we'll assume you eat everything!
