Wine Tasting: A Touch of Sweetness

Did you know wine was originally ALL sweet? That's why you'll sometimes still see "Dry Red Wine" printed on a wine label-- to distinguish it from "normal" (sweet!) wine. For this tasting just before the holidays, we're diving into an assortment of dessert wines to tempt your palate for chocolate cake and pumpkin pie. If you have a tooth for the sweet, just wait till you see the desserts we pair! Get your holiday decadence on early.

- Rheinhessen Beerenauslese Prädikatswein 2010 (Germany)
- Chateau d'Arche Sauternes 2006 (France)
- Broadbent Madeira Reserve 5 yrs (Spain)
- Gonzales Byass "Nectar" PX Sherry Pedro Ximenez (Spain)
- Kopke "Rose" Porto 2004 (Portugal)
- PasoPort "Ruby" Dessert Wine 2008 (California)
- Quinta Do Crasto LBV Port 2003 (Portugal)

As usual, we'll start off with a quick discussion about smelling, tasting, pairing, buying and storing wine. Gourmet small desserts will be the order of the day, but you may want to plan on dinner after. Please pay via Paypal when you RSVP. If you don't eat/like any particular food, let us know in advance! JJ's Bistro and French Pastry on Waialae Ave has great desserts! You can take out. Order the largest chocolate pyramid in advance.

Morimoto and Stage are two other possibilities... just need to work something out on corkage.

Love Morimoto. The other two I've never heard of so trying a new place would be a treat too; I'm really looking forward to this one.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
