Talk: Smoking suffragettes to secret segmentation – the invisible power of copy

  • June 3, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • The Elephant public house,

6:30pm for a 7pm start.

Talk from Natalie Burns: From the early psychology of sales and ‘user testing’ in the 1920’s to how the user journey has progressed from subtlety of suggestion to a personalised experience, this talk will look at why content creators, front end and design need to work collaboratively like never before.

There'll be a chance for questions, activities and discussion throughout.

Drinks in the bar afterwards. Hope to see you there!

As always, space is a little limited, so please be considerate with your RSVP.

Thanks so much to everyone who came to my talk last night - great to hear your comments and enjoyed the discussion. I'll pop the slides up on my blog soon, as I rushed some of the early ones! Will add the link on here when they are up. Thanks again, and feel free to drop me an email at [masked] or tweet me @NBurnsy if you have any other questions/comments.

Big thanks to the organisers too of course - another lovely evening!

Looking forward to reading your post Natalie. Thanks for going to the trouble of putting it up for those of us that missed it. Cheers! Ange

It was a good talk that prompted an interesting discussion. UX and marketing people should be comfortable bedfellows and the more that's done to encourage cooperation the better.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. The talk was structured in a way that made it engaging, it flowed well, and it was nice way of getting us all to collaborate on ideas. Interesting mix of people and thought-provoking discussions. Thanks Natalie!

Well done Natalie. It was good to see so many of us were in agreement about content not being an afterthought...

Sadly for me, I can't make it after all. Just got back from Spain and forgot I had another meeting booked. Sorry to miss this one!

    I can't make it tomorrow :-(

BUT, I'd like to do some shameless self promotion here!

I've just moved to Rockpool Digital and we're looking for a bright mind to join us as a UX/BA hybrid. If you're interested please get in touch and share with anyone who may be interested :-) The role could be moulded to be for someone wanting to get into UX or a more seasoned type - we're flexible.

Thanks Bonny. I've given it a bash except I don't want a full time job so that may well count me out (assuming I might even be "in" of course...)

Sorry I can't make this one after all - I've a presentation in London on Wednesday and it was over-ambitious to think I could make this too! Have a good one.

That's a shame! Hopefully see you at the next one, and good luck at the presentation :)

Been afflicted with a bout of summer man-flu, so sadly no longer able to make this.

I look forward to meeting some digital High Priests and trying to persuade them that their sacred knowledge should be made available to the masses.
