Sorry, I got there and then realised there was no way for me to get there without avoiding the stairs so I had to leave.

I'm still trying to get my head around some of the new features in SQL Server 2012 like Power View and Power Pivot and the tabular data model. I can't see why I would use them over straight SSAS with Excel/SSRS/Report Builder.

PowerPivot (& Tabular) is way easier to master than SSAS - they have different strengths but for chucking data about Tabular is just a simpler approach.

PowerView is a nice toy but needs some more work to be a serious data viz tool. Excel still wins from me. Report Builder is the work of the devil.
