Everyone Loves a Parade
*PLEASE READ ALL THE DETAILS BELOW*
The Hermosa Beach Saint Patrick's Day Parade has been a South Bay tradition since 1995.
As one of the original Parade organizers and serving on the planning committee for over 13 years, I'm looking forward to finally being a participant.
Joy and I in 2011 after making sure everyone was in their place just before step off.
Everyone is Irish on Saint Patrick's Day.
a quote by Charles M. Madigan
"St. Patrick -- one of the few saints whose feast day presents the opportunity to get determinedly whacked and make a fool of oneself all under the guise of acting Irish".
This is a totally fun and festive daytime event with the chance to dress crazy, goofy or outrageous but definitely wear your green!
Bring your family, friends and pets.
If you're going to do something special like bring a drum, please list that and the number of people coming with you in your RSVP. I need this information when I submit my registration form.
Unfortunately, they have a rule that no one under age 5 is allowed to march. Sorry.
We are Meetup Synergy Group Parade Entry #88. There will be 93 parade entries in the lineup.
In order to join us you must be in line no later than 10:30am. More than likely we will be close to 8th Street on Valley.
The parade steps off at 11am on Pier Avenue at Valley and goes west down Pier Ave then turns south on Hermosa Ave. More details to follow.
If you just want to watch us march and cheer us on, then come stand across the street from Dr. Ed's Hermosa Chiropractic office at 440 Pier Avenue. You want to be on the North side of the street for this parade. Our Organizer, George, will be there to greet you. Cheer real loud as we walk by. We'll have a Meetup Synergy Banner so you can't miss us.
Parking WILL be a challenge on a first come, first serve in the following designated locations-
1. Community Center on Pier Ave & Aviation
2. Vons Underground Parking on Valley north of Pier Ave
3. Valley School on Valley north of Pier
4. The Parking Structure on Hermosa Ave north of the Pier
Carpooling and drop offs are HIGHLY encouraged. Best yet, ride your bike. There should be lots of places to park it. I think Hermosa Beach will have their Valet Bike Parking available.
Our member, Dr. Ed, definitely knows how to get into spirit!
He's offered us use of his Chiropractic Office located at 440 Pier Avenue from 9am to 10:30am. It's just a block away from where we'll be lining up in the parade. Go get an adjustment and relax. Just make sure to get in line no later than 10:30. Dr. Ed invited his Drum Circle friends to join us which will add to the spirit of the day. They even have some extra Tambourines for some of us to use.
After the parade, we'll head over for lunch at Cantina Real Mexican Restaurant on the pier at 1pm. I have a reservation for 20 so first come first serve. If you're interested, mentionLUNCH in your comments so I have a head count when making the reservations.
Although there are no cost to you for this fun memorable time, I'm paying a parade fee of $50 and would appreciate any donations you seem fit to help me cover that cost.
