Music and travel addict. Hold a PhD in Political Science and Religious Studies (Interdisciplinary Studies). Photographer by trade. Cat lover. Hopeless optimist. Bibliophile. Lifelong vegetarian. Teetotaler. I dig street art, motorcycles, fashion, food, coffee, sweets, more coffee. I smile, dance, and laugh a lot. I don't take life very seriously, but I take music seriously.
Coachella Music Festival 2010. The line-up was epic (Thom Yorke, Muse, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, hot Chip, Florence & the Machine, Sia, Yeasayer, La Roux, Passion Pit, etc) and the energy of the crowd was like nothing I've ever experienced.
Smaller shows, AT LEAST, once a month, and a few big outdoor music festivals a year.
My music interests are pretty varied, but by and large, I stay away from most mainstream radio play. I like mostly indie stuff (electro, rock, noise-pop, dance, folk) but I also love classic rock, 80s new wave, blues and bluegrass, and going out dancing to hard house. Fav bands: Radiohead/Thom Yorke/Atoms for Peace, Sleigh Bells, DeVotchka, Sylvan Esso, Lucius, Chvrches, Fyfe, Arcade Fire, Hot Chip, Vampire Weekend, Stars, Alabama Shakes, Damien Rice, Purity Ring, Flume, Kishi Bashi, Glen Hansard, Muse, Grimes, Panama, Yellow Ostrich, Interpol, James Blake, The Kills, classic Elton John/Rolling Stones/Led Zepplin, Lana Del Rey, Local Natives, The XX, Metronomy, Miike Snow, Phantogram, Class Actress, Phoenix, Bjork, The Cure/Depeche Mode/New Order, Polica, Lykke Li, The Decemberists, Beastie Boys, Jose Gonzales, etc etc!
Last show: Kishi Bashi. The man is brilliant live. Next show: Forecastle Festival in Louisville. Most looking forward to: Lollapalooza in Chicago and Elton John in Sac.
My husband and I moved to the Sac area from Berkeley about 4 years ago, and I LOVE the friends I've made here, but they just don't share my passion for music, especially live music, nor my proclivity for planning.
