Ride our bikes along the American River to Lake Natoma

Lets go for a nice gentle ride along the American River. It isn't very hilly, and we'll do about 2 or 3 miles out and back. The riding time, is about 30 minutes each way.

Lets plan on having a picnic too, once we get to Lake Natoma.

Afterwards, I'm sure some of the kids will want to play on the play structure or in the park afterwards.

Since the American River parkway is home to some of the faster ( I have another word, but it apprently offends ! )  bike crowd, the minimum age is probably around 6 or 7. Any children should be off training wheels, and be pretty decent/confident biker. This is just more for everyone's safety, to avoid collisions. They also need to be able to understand and obey when someone tells them to stay on the right. When I did this last time, several of the faster bikers were doing 20mph+, so it is important to be able to ride well and safely.

Younger kids will be fine on carriers and/or trailers.

There is a cul-de-sac called Moose River Court which is where I normally park, or any of the other streets. The great thing about this park, is it gives parkway access, without paying entrance fees.

This ride sounds nice but one of our bikes is in the shop.
Think we'll have to do a hike this weekend instead.
